I was not surprised at all to find it raining outside. It was still 4th period, no one was outside.. Spirits broken, I trudged through the puddles to Mrs. Spinner's class.
"Oh! You're back." Mrs. Spinner muttered. I locked eyes with Tony and he looked confused at me.Sitting in my back row seat, I realized someone in the seat next to me, looking baffled at the worksheet in front of him.
"Hey, are you new?" I whispered to him.
He nodded at me. Now, I don't like guys, but I gotta say. Dang. The guy was good looking, okay?
"What's your name? Wanna sit with my group at lunch, it's in like 5 minutes?"
"Trevor."
"I'm Aaron. You should sit with us at lunch."
"I don't have anyone else to sit with, why not?"
On rainy days, the school was confined to the halls. The whole school. My little group had been meeting in the same spot all four years. Next to Room 149. Freshman English.
Jakob and Emily had English together in the same hall, so they were there first. Me, Trevor, and Tony showed up at about the same as Bruno and Javier, the twins, deep in some conversation.
"Hey guys." I tried to sound happy, "This is Trevor, he's new.""Hey." He said. He started to talk to Jakob and Emily.
"Why'd you go to the office, man?" Tony asked me.
"Oh. Yeah. That." I muttered. "Yeah, I guess I have under a 2.0, so I-uh- got kicked off the football team."
"Oh. Aaron! That sucks!"
"Yeah... it really does, but there's nothing I can do about it, I guess. Oh well."
"Wait, Trevor, I just realized, you're in, like, four of my classes."
"I am? That's weird" Trevor laughed weirdly.
"Yeah, weird. Where'd you come from?" Tony asked.
"I-uh- moved from up in Three Points."
"Oh that's not too far."
"Aaron, how was that Alchemy test?" Emily giggled to me.
"Okay, you know what? That test sucked. I didn't get the lessons at all."
"It was easy!" She laughed.
"Eh, I don't think so."
"Well, I mean it's you, Aaron."
"Hey, you two, be nice to each other" Iakov, the quiet voice of reason in our group chimed in.
Finally, the bell rang, ending my miserable day. Thank God.
