"Jennie, why are there so many people here for just a youtube video shoot?" Rosie asked, looking at the solid fifteen people swarmed in her apartment, all on the other side of her island, where she sat alone on a stool. A second stool sat next to her for Lisa.
"Well, we're shooting with a highly expensive camera that I think is normally used for music videos, so there's that team. There's lighting, makeup, hair, and that makes ten. Then there's the four of us, and that makes fourteen, and then there's Irene." Jennie counted.
"Sorry, Irene? Like, The Irene?" She said, and a dark haired girl stepped out from inside the cluster of people. She was Korean, and had long black hair, styled effortlessly with a red beret, white blouse, and light wash skinny jeans. She was beautiful. Why did Jennie have so many pretty friends?
"Hi, Nice to meet you," Irene said, offering a hand to Rosie, who shook it.
"Thanks for being here," She said back with a smile.
"Irene knows a lot about dealing with this stuff. We started a fake dating rumor a while ago about ourselves to distract the press from my now-ex," Jennie said with a laugh.
Rosie smiled and went and sat back down, trying to get acclimated to the studio lights she never saw in her own apartment. The plan was simple; they were going to get footage of her coming out, addressing the dating rumors, and making sure that it was clear that Dispatch was to blame for it all. With a nod from Jennie and a click of the clapperboard from Lisa, Rosie was talking.
"Hi, everyone," She said, a little unsure. She looked to Lisa, who smiled.
"I have something to tell you. It's not something I wanted to say- not now, at least- but my hand is forced. I think you know what I'm talking about. Every year for New Year's, Dispatch releases information about two high-profile celebrities that are dating, without their consent. This year, it's me that they've decided to target, circulating sick perversions of teasers. And there's something I want to tell you before they can."
"I'm a lesbian."
Rosie took a deep breath, a hot tear streaming down her face.
"God, I'm crying already." She said, accepting a tissue from Lisa, who used a plastic dinosaur head-grabber-toy to give her the box without being on screen.
"If you know me in real life, I'm sorry you had to find out this way, and not with a private conversation or personal letter, like what I know so many people do. This is the easy way out, because I get to come out once, and the whole world will know. And I know there are so many people like me out there that can't come out because of their environments around them. If that's you, I see you, and I love you.
"So now, you want to know who the lucky lady is, right? Who could it be that I love so much I would do this to be with. Some of you might have some ideas, but unfortunately, it is not Jisoo. She says I'm not quite her type," Rosie said with a laugh, looking at Jennie and Jisoo before back at the camera.
"Lili, will you come here?" She said, and Lisa came into the frame, sitting on the stool next to Rosie, putting her arm around her.
"Hi everyone," Lisa said with a little wave.
"This is my girlfriend. Lalisa." Rosie said, erupting into tears.
"Oh, Rosie,"
"I've never said that out loud," She sobbed into Lisa. Lisa held her, and for a minute they sat like that.
"I'm Lisa, Princess of Thailand. I am a lesbian. This is our story," Lisa said, and the cameras shut off. Rosie knew they had planned to insert a montage of videos and pictures the girls had taken of each other there, and use that as the ending. A twenty minute video, tops, and then they'd be ready.
"That was great, Ro," Jisoo said, holding her. Irene and Jennie both had clearly been crying, and Lisa hadn't let go of Rosie's hand.
