Shouta woke up to the sound of his alarm blaring incessantly in his ear.
A glance around the room told him that Hizashi was already up. The smell of eggs and toast drifting in through the open door indicated his husband was cooking for them.
Yawning mildly, Shouta made his way towards the kitchen, his husband standing idly at the stove. At the sound of his footsteps pattering quietly against the ground, Hizashi spun around to face Shouta, beaming.
"Sho! You're awake!" He exclaimed. "I made breakfast."
Shouta didn't bother responding, instead deigning to make himself a cup of coffee—black. Hizashi set down a steaming plate of freshly cooked breakfast mere moments after he'd sat down, the blonde then plopping noisily into the seat beside him.
The man didn't both swallowing before speaking, talking through a mouthful of toast. "Good morning! You have that parent-teacher conference today, right?"
"Unfortunately," Shouta drawled, taking a large, well-needed sip of his coffee. "I have a few parents I need to talk to in particular."
Hizashi quirked an eyebrow in question, "What'd your students do this time?"
Shouta's whole body seemed to sigh. "It's complicated."
"Let me guess—Midoriya? Bakugou? It's always those two."
"Sadly, you're right on the mark," Shouta admitted, rubbing the heel of his palm against his temples. "I'm not even in class yet and I can already feel a headache coming on. This class is going to bring me to an early grave."
"Admit it, Sho, you secretly love them," Hizashi teased, eyes crinkling from a smile.
Shouta took a long gulp of coffee, finishing off the cup. He moved to make himself another, blatantly ignoring Hizashi's disappointed stare.
"Never."
Shouta was sure the Bakugou's would be a hard family to deal with before they'd even gotten there.
He'd met them before, and the couple had displayed more than a few concerning behaviors. Almost immediately after her son being kidnapped, Mitsuki Bakugou had had the audacity to hit him in front of Shouta, and proceed to outright blame him for getting kidnapped. Masaru Bakugou had tried to intervene, but hadn't had enough of a spine to do much help.
It didn't paint a pretty picture, overall, though it did explain Bakugou's violent tendencies. If he thought violence was a natural response to anger, then Shouta could see how he might've picked up on that notion. Masaru wasn't contributing to the borderline abuse, but he wasn't stopping it, either.
From what Shouta had seen, it wasn't a healthy environment for any kid to be raised in. Bakugou had grown so much since coming to UA—especially after the dorms system was installed—and it was clear to see that him being away from his parents had a lot to do with it.
There were a few other things Shouta had to address. He wouldn't let the Bakugou's behavior slide, but he also needed to make them aware of the harm Bakugou had inflicted on Midoriya in the past—and even now, if the battle trial on the second day of school was anything to go by.
Shouta didn't believe his student to be quirkist, though he seemed to have an unfavorable reaction towards any show of "weakness"—which also probably stemmed from his mother's behavior.
Not to mention the loads of trauma he's endured, and UA's lack of response to what Shouta's class has faced. Bakugou was probably averse to asking for help, based on the behaviors he's been taught at home, and instead decided to suffer in silence.
