Evie’s POV
We finish up the amazing sandwiches Tony’s mom made for us and Tony and I go for a walk around the park.
“So how is everything with Keisha?” Tony asks when we get to the field. I bend down to take a seat and Tony sits next to me. It’s a little breezy but there are no clouds in the sky; it’s absolutely beautiful.
“Mmm.” I rest my head on his shoulder. “It’s okay. We went to this adoption agency in LA. It was actually near Charleston. They just told her her options. She has time to think about what she wants to do.” I shrug. Tony pulls me into his lap and I continue. “It’s a lot to think about. I’m gonna try to help her as best I can but there’s only so much I can do.”
“I don’t deserve you,” Tony mutters into my ear. His confession catches me off guard.
“Yes, you do.” I reach behind me and rake my fingers through his hair. “You’re a good brother, a good son and the perfect boyfriend. If anything, I don’t deserve you Antonio.”
“I hate it when you call me that.”
I laugh. “And I hate it when you call me Evette, but you still do.”
Tony squeezes me in his arms. “But Evette is a lot sexier than Antonio.”
“Mmm.” I lean back on his chest. “I disagree. Antonio is a pretty sexy name. Makes me think of a Spanish model or something.”
Tony laughs. “Whatever.” I take his hands in mine and play with them.
“I wanna do something fun this summer,” I finally say.
“Like what Evette?” He emphasizes me name and I can hear the smirk in his voice. I turn around so that I’m facing him and my legs are on either side of his hips.
“Like teaching you that I prefer to be called Evie.” I kiss him on the lips. “And maybe going to the water park or Magic Mountain. I saved some money working at Bob’s.”
“The water park would be fun. They just opened a Raging Waters in Anaheim. I know Donny and Emi would love that. And I would love see you in a bikini.”
I smack Tony on the shoulder. “Shut up.”
Tony laughs again and then hugs me. “In all seriousness though, I do wanna do something fun this summer.” He pulls away. “After all, in a two months, I’m going to be a college kid. You’re gonna be the coolest one on the playground with a college boyfriend.”
“Oh whatever.” I roll my eyes. “You’re still going to be a high school student.”
“True.” Tony leans in and we kiss again. “And I’ll still get to see you every day,” he murmurs against my lips. “That’s the best part.”
“Excuse me.” We pull apart to see Donny shyly walking up. I quickly slide off Tony’s lap and sit next to him on the grass.
“What’s up lil man?” Tony holds out his hand and Donny cautiously walks towards him. When he gets close enough, Tony grabs him and tickles him to the ground. Donny squeals the whole time. I take out my phone and record the two. They’re absolutely adorable.
When Donny finally calms down, Tony pulls him into his lap. Donny tries to squirm but Tony holds him in place.
“Your mom said we’re leaving now,” Donny finally sighs, giving up the fight.
“Alright lil man.” Tony lets Donny go and he goes running back to the picnic tables.
“Guess we should go then.” Tony stands up and offers me his hand. I take his hand then stand up.
“I really am excited for the summer,” I say as we walk back to the picnic tables. “It’s gonna be fun.”
