Jennifer's POV
I'm waiting for the kids in the parking. I told them we would go see Alex so I don't think they are going to take too much time. The first one I see coming is Ella. She looks kinda mad I don't know why. I think that going back to school was a little harder for her but she doesn't want to admit it and I don't want to force her to talk about it. She opens the car trunk to put her school bag inside probably then she opens the backseat door and sits down.
"Hey Ella" I say turning around to see her. "Hey" she answers looking trough the window.
"How was your day" I ask "Not that good but from now on I know it's gonna be better" "You really can't wait to see him" "I can't wait to talk to him to get some explanations. Like why he killed mom" "Ellaaaaa" "What? I want him to say the truth" "He didn't..."
The conversation gets cut by Max opening the door and getting in the car next to Ella.
"Hello. I saw Emme and Tashi they are coming" he says "Hey Max! Had a good day?" I ask "Yeah it was okay"
He takes out his phone until Natasha and Emme arrive. I start driving while they talk about school things. After a couple of minutes, we're at the police station. I hate going there it's just making me nervous.
The security guy brings us to the same room I was in when I visited Alex the last time. We're still going to be separated by this glass.
Once we are inside, the door on the other side opens to let Alex come.
I'm so glad to see him, I really missed him. I'll let the kids talk to him first, I know they have been waiting for this. Especially Natasha and Ella. When my eyes meet his, I wink at him. I know he's happy to see the kids, I can see it in the way he looks at them.
"Hey dad" Natasha says "Hey guys. I feel like you all have changed since the last time I saw you" he says and they laugh "Yeah you always say that we're the same" Ella tells him "We missed you" Emme says "I missed you too" he answers.
He takes news about them. I don't think I will have a lot of time to talk to him today but it doesn't matter.
"Can I ask you something?" Natasha asks Alex.
It's making me nervous. He doesn't know I told everything to the kids. He technically never asked me to keep it for myself but I think he would've preferred that I didn't say anything. I just couldn't not tell them and anyway Ella had already saw it on internet. I just hope he won't get mad.
"Yeah sure Tashi" he answers
"Why did you lie to us?" she says
Yeah that's what I thought...I'm glad Natasha is asking and not Ella. I don't want her to get mad and explode or something. Alex looks at me for a second before taking a deep breath. I feel kinda bad to put him in that situation but he has to explain to them one day.
"Well first, I wasn't doing that to hurt you it really wasn't my point..." "Fail" Ella says cutting him "I know it did and I'm sorry" he starts "I didn't want to tell because it's something big and I didn't know if you would've been able to take it. I wanted to tell you when the police would have found the person who did it but they didn't" he continues
"When you think about it, that's exactly what you did. The police found out it was you and know we know" Ella says
Alex sighs.
"Maybe it's gonna be hard for you to trust me but I promise you I would never do that to you two, taking away your mom" he tells her "I believe you. I even convinced all my friends it wasn't you" Max says.
He's so cute. I don't know why it's so hard for Ella to believe him...probably because of all the things she heard.
"Yeah but I don't understand. I heard you..." Ella starts and before she goes further, I put my hand on her shoulder to remind her what we agreed on about that. She can't go there. She stops talking and Alex looks at me confused. I shake my head to tell him it's nothing.
"Ok but are you coming out soon?" Natasha asks "I have no idea but I hope tomorrow" he answers
I think that's what we pretty much all hope
The security guy tells us that time is almost done.
"Looks like we're done" Alex says. "Already" Tashi says sadly "Yeah I hope we will see each other soon" "That depends on mom if she brings us" Max says looking at me "Message understood even if I hope I don't have to bring you guys back here" I tell them
We all say our goodbyes, then the kids start walking out and I follow them.
"Baby wait before you go" Alex says stopping me.
He motions me to come closer and that's what I do.
"We didn't have much time huh" he says "No but the kids needed that. They miss you a lot"
"Did you talk to the girls all the adoption things?" he asks now that the kids are outside "No not really I'm sorry I wasn't really thinking about it" I answer "Well can you do it soon? It doesn't look good for tomorrow and like I told you I want the girls with you" "I know but somebody can't just come and take them away" "I have no idea but I prefer being sure" "Okay I promise you I'll do it. Now I think we have to go" "I love you so much and I miss you" "I love you too papi"
I smile at him and walk out. He said it doesn't look good...I don't know what I'm going to do if he has to stay in prison or something for a long time. He said he wants the girls with me, I want them with me too but I also want him with us.
