Well One Time in High School...

"So, do you have any plans this Halloween?"

"Nah, not really," I sighed. I figured that it was just gonna be the same as last year. Last year, I just sat on the couch and watched the Invader ZIM Halloween special... Not that I didn't enjoy it, I just wanted to do more this year.

"Well, you can come trick-or-treating with me!" Shelby cheered.

"I haven't trick-or-treated in a long time." At least not in an entertaining way. I'd have to go with my dad--it was always his weekend. We'd only go to relatives houses...which was boring as hell.

"We'll have fun!"

I sighed. She's so persistent. Plus, I just love to hang with this chick. "Sure."

"Yay! Okay, so I have a plan for our costumes. I'll have to find a third person...but I'll get that taken care of! Anyway, I'll go as Billie Joe and you can go as either Mike or Tré!" She grinned, proud of her idea.

"I'll be Tré." It was easier for me to pull off and I felt like my personality was close to his...in a way.

"Okay, cool! Umm... I don't have a red tie, though..."

"I was gonna get you one for your birthday, right? Well, I'll just get it now." She grinned again and grabbed me for a tight, Shelby-hug.

"THANK YOOOUUU!!!!" she screamed. I laughed.

"You're welcome."

October 31: Halloween day

Our high school is badass: they let us dress up on Halloween. I was late (again) to band...

And, I was indeed, fashionably late.

Mom had done my hair and makeup. My hair was soo legit! It wasn't exactly like Tré's, but it was pretty fucking close. I had on a black shirt, black jeans, red-orange converse, and a white tie. Shelby's red tie was in my bag, as were some drumsticks. As I came in, I got some wide eyes from people in the clarinet section. I looked at Shelby, who was wearing pieces of her costume. She smiled and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled and nodded back.

I went through the clarinets to my seat at the end of the flute section. Was I last chair? No, I was simply a freshman and freshman are placed last in the marching band. The girl next to me stared at me. I explained everything. She nodded.

"Can I touch it?" she asked.

"What?"

"Your hair! Can I touch it?"

I sighed. "Sure." She reached her hand up and pat my hairsprayed hair and grinned.

"That's awesome."

Band class ended a few minutes later and I gave Shelby her tie. She grinned.

"I love it," she said.

"I'm glad. It was $10."

"Umm...Christon?"

"Yea?"

"...I don't know how to tie a tie..."

I grabbed the tie and tied it around her neck for her. She flipped the collar of her black dress shirt down. "I have to show you this," she said.

Ah, yes, the second to last piece of her costume.

It was a black wig that was spiked in all sorts of different places like crazy. I smiled.

"That's awesome."

"I know, right?"

3rd hour Physical Science

Johnathan's eyes grew wide when he saw me. He started to laugh.

"What the heck happened to your hair?!?" Yea, by the way, Johnathan is one of my friends who doesn't cuss very often.

"It's for my costume..."

He laughed harder. Johnathan's also part hyeena. Just to let you know. "Who are you supposed to be?"

"Tré Cool..." I said shyly. I hate explaining things to people. He gave me a confused look. (a/n: thinking back on this moment made me think "Who the fuck is Tré Cool?") "The drummer of Green Day..." I continued.

"Oooh..."

The rest of the time I was around him, it consisted of "Oh my God! It's Tré Cool!" and me flipping the asshole off. I like Johnathan, but sometimes his jokes go a little far.

All in all, the school day was...different. Have you ever had one of those days where people pay more attention to you than normal? This was one of those days.

Shelby met me outside. "Hey, do you think you could take us to my house?"

I nodded. "Yea sure."

I texted my mom, telling her that I was going over to Shelby's. We went and sat for a while. I pulled out my drumsticks and she put on her wig, just cause we could. I was beating on random things with my drumsticks. Honestly, I sucked at it. Shelby came over and took them from my hands. She showed me up by playing a bunch of crazy rhythms. Once she was done, she handed them back to me.

"Show-off..." I growled. She smiled proudly.

We sat around passing time by watching a Ghost Adventures marathon....sorta. Shelby got scared and kept switching between it and another show.

"Oh shit! We need to go!" Shelby said as she looked at the time and grabbed her guitar controller. I followed her out the door and we started walking to Ashley's house.

Yup. This actually happened. Well, except for the plot. And maybe a few dialogue moments.
