Chapter 24: A Noble Sacrifice

Things were tense, both Mowgli and Raksha were mortally injured. Shin had the upper hand and Bagheera needed to confess to Amelia his feelings to her.

Amelia: "Bagheera?"

Bagheera turned his body towards her. He took a deep breathe before speaking.

Bagheera: "He wants you. Shin has had feelings for you for a while, but he wanted to tell you himself. Which is why he's been very controlling and protective over you. He sees me as a threat because of how close me and you have gotten with each other since you got here."

Amelia: "What? When was this?"

Bagheera: "Days ago. Maybe even a month.

Shin: "I still do have those feelings for you, Amelia. I want nothing more than to leave this jungle with you and Ivy. We can be a family together, like we used to be."

Amelia: "I would never want to go anywhere with you! Not after what you did to Mowgli and Raksha. And what you almost tried to do to Bagheera. Look at you! You're a monster, Shin! An absolute monster!"

Shin: "I did this for you."

Amelia: "I never asked for any of this! I would never want something like this to happen to anyone. If you and Ivy wanna leave the jungle, then you can go without me! I'm gonna stay here with the rest of my friends."

Hearing that almost broke Shin's heart. Shin focused his attention on Bagheera. In rage, Shin lays a paw on top of Mowgli very hard causing him to grunt in pain. He took his claws out ready to scratch the man-cub for another time. Bagheera and Baloo took one step forward in fear for Mowgli's life.

Baloo: "Shin, don't! Please, let Mowgli go! He has nothing to do with any of this!"

Shin: "Oh, I'm not planning on killing him. Thats if Amelia makes the right choice."

Amelia: "What do you want?!"

Shin: "The choice you make will determine the man-cub's fate. If you choose to leave the jungle with me and Ivy and become my mate, I'll let Mowgli go. If you refuse to do so, I will end his little life right here, right now. The choice is yours."

Bagheera and Baloo look over to Amelia who was just in amount of shock as they were. Raksha from a distance yelled out to Amelia.

Raksha: "Just give him what he wants! Don't let him kill my son! Please!"

Bagheera: "You don't have to play his game, Amelia. He isn't in charge of your life. Only you are in charge of your own life."

Amelia: "I'm sorry, Bagheera. I really do care about Mowgli. And I can't let Shin kill him."

Amelia looked back at Shin who was waiting for her answer. She stepped forward a few steps and spoke with a concerned voice.

Amelia: "If I choose to go with you, will you leave everyone in the jungle at peace?"

Shin: "Yes. You have my word."

Amelia: "Okay. Then I will go with you."

Baloo: "What?!"

Bagheera: "Amelia..."

Amelia turned to look at Bagheera with sadness in her eyes.

Amelia: "It's for the best, Bagheera. I'm sure you understand."

Bagheera couldn't hide his sadness. He never expected Amelia to make such a difficult decision. But at the same time, it wasn't too surprising. She was always the type of individual who cared about others. Her sweet and gentle heart was one of the things he loved about her. The jungle could use someone like her around. Shin removed his paw from Mowgli. He then walks around him and off the rock making his way towards Amelia. The other wolves stepped out of his way in fear of being his next victim. Ivy follows behind Shin, hopping on the ground as she walked passed all the other wolves. They looked at her as if she was a traitor. Ivy couldn't help but feel more guilt in her heart. Bagheera looked at Shin in anger, holding back the urge to fight him. Shin paid him no mind seeing that he got what he wanted.
