MAYBE THIS WAS the fresh start this family needed. A new place of scenery from all the madness they've grown so accustomed to. It's what Daphne needed badly, something different than all the baggage her life brought with her. All the damage that came with what she was, oh how she longed for something different.

She liked the life Baltimore had given her. The friends she made and the lovers she's had, she enjoyed it very much. It's what she needed most of all, a way to escape. Here she was now, coming back home after her day with Stella, coming back to the wind down in her apartment. A minute to relax and enjoy all she had.

Knock, knock, knock!

Spoke too soon.

Daphne sighed as she dragged her feet over to the door. She didn't have a second to register who was there before Harlow came bursting right through. "You will not believe who I just saw today! We've been broken up for less than a month and you're already seeing other people?!"

"If you're talking about that bloke of your ex Micah, I have absolutely no interest in hearing what he's done now." Daphne closed the door behind her, walking her into the foyer. "I'm just saying it's suspicious that he's already talking to other people after leaving a one-year relationship!"

Harlow flopped onto Daphne's couch. Harlow always wondered how Daphne and her family had everything so easy. They were completely loaded, some would question how they got the money in the first place. They have great personalities, whenever they spoke they could draw in the room. And they were flawless. No matter how long you knew them, they just never seem to age a day.

The Harringtons were living the absolute dream.

Daphne pulled out two bottles from her cabinet. "Well, I have a proposition to make. Instead of moping about lousy men, let's just drown ourselves in alcohol and forget about all this dumb shit right now." She placed drinks on the coffee and smiled at her friend. "Now that's something I can agree to." Harlow grabbed one of the bottles from her hand. Not even bothering to grab a glass, downing some of it in one swig.

IT HAD ONLY been a few hours, and the two were wasted as could be. They finished a good chunk of Daphne's liquor cabinet and had moved the fun into the master bedroom, but she wasn't mad about it. Anything to lift her best friend's spirit she would take it. Besides, it was only materialistic things that could easily be replaced.

Looking around at all the empty bottles in her bedroom and a half-passed-out Harlow, Daphne got up and stumbled out of her room and was in heavy need of a blood bag. She didn't pay any mind to what was around.

Specifically, her niece sitting right on the kitchen island.

"You know, if she's your best friend you should just tell her the truth. I don't think normal best friends lie to each other this much."
