The Marionette’s Song
Do I believe all you say?
Am I in the palm of your hand?
Am I a mere marionette
and you the puppet master?
But what happens when I fall?
Will you catch me?
If I need your help, do you see me
or do you ignore all I say?
When I clutch onto you, will you let me fall?
Will you toss me away without looking at the tears I left on your hand?
Why do you control my heart master?
How are you controlling me, the helpless marionette?
I am the devoted marionette.
Even though you are cold to me,
my love will never belong to any other than you, Master.
But why is it when I try to tell, you dismiss what I say?
Don’t let go and open your hand
and let me fall.
The strings of your manipulative power whip me as I fall.
Always, you make me feel like the helpless marionette.
But why is it that you can make me trust you by holding out your hand
even when I know you will just hurt me?
All I am trying to say:
Don’t be cruel, Master.
Why do you purposefully make my tears come, Master?
You never do anything as they fall.
But every day you say,
“Take care, my dear marionette.”
Why, why are you doing this to me?
Please, lend me your hand.
Even with my tear-stained face, you keep your hands a tantalizing distance from my hands.
Don’t be cruel, Master.
Please don’t taunt me;
My tears will fall;
They are the only things you can't control in me, the marionette,
But now, won’t you please listen to what I say?
Don’t pretend you don’t know and ignore me and what I say.
I saw the ice frost over your heart when you let me fall out of your hands.
Oh master, you cold hearted monster, you have severed my strings and killed your devoted marionette.
