"And then I told him, no, you can't shake cows whenever you want a milkshake." Mason laughs as Liam rose from his seat, slipping behind the bookshelves in the library. My questioning gaze following the beta until he was out of sight. The quiet chattering in the room abruptly stopped as the doors to the library swung open.
Nolan Holloway stood, his nervous eyes scanning the room, taking in all of the people who were now staring at him, following his every move. His icy blue eyes locked with my brown and I saw him visibly gulp before he started walking again. I would have snickered at the boy's obvious fear of me if he didn't slip behind the very same bookshelf a certain beta had.
"I can show you something." I heard the timid boy mutter as I stalked closer to the two, still out of sight. "Something I know your gonna wanna see."
"Where?"
"At-at the hospital." The boy stuttered.
"Why don't you just tell me what it is?"
"Because I have a plan."
"You? Have a plan?" Liam challenged, incredulously.
"Yeah. Yeah, I-" Nolan sighs. "I'm gonna show you what you need to see at the hospital. Then you're gonna kick my ass so Miss Monroe thinks that you had to beat the information out of me." There was a moment of silence between the two as Liam mulled over Nolan's words.
"Yeah, I'm good with that plan."
"Sounds like your terrible plan needs more brains, so, in that case, I'm in too." Nolan's eyes widened as I stepped into view, just behind Liam. His brows furrowed in confusion.
"Uh- you weren't involved, she's not involved." The boy looks to Liam for help and I smirk as I watch his eyes dart between the two of us, knowing what would come next.
"She is now. Either that or I just kick your ass now." Liam replied, arms crossed over his chest in an attempt to intimidate the boy, it does the job, it doesn't take a lot to intimidate that boy. He rolled his eyes slightly before huffing out something along the lines of 'fine'.

"See that guy?" Nolan spoke as we peered around a corner, the main nurse's station coming into view. "That's why we didn't come in the front door." The man in question seemed innocent enough as he spoke to the child in front of him.
"Who is he?" Liam questioned.
"He's with Monroe. He was there last night. They handed him a gun like everyone else." Nolan explained before pointing to a woman in a blue uniform. "You see that, that nurse right there? She was standing right behind me." He sighed. "There's more than you think and they're not just hunters. It's anyone and everyone who is willing to pick up a gun. Last night they were teaching them how to use them, how to load clips, what to do if the gun jams."
"Nurses?" Liam speaks, his tone defeated.
"Everyone."
"Everyone but you?" I said with a scoff and the boy looked down at his shoes as he shook his head.
"I- that's not important right now." The boy mumbled. I raise my brows, skeptical of his sudden hospitality but decided to drop it.
"So this is what you wanted to show us? That people hate us? I could've figured this out on my own." Liam growled.
"It's not just that. Come with me, okay?" The boy sighs as Liam looks at him unimpressed. "Now!" Nolan swiftly lead us down a corridor while the nurse was busy on the phone.
___
The three of us stood silently in the elevator, the only sound filling the small space was the sound of the annoying, creepy elevator music. My head snapped to the entrance of the elevator as a ding sounded. Another hallway, much like the last, and I can't help but think of how easy it would be to get lost in the large hospital. Liam went to take a step out of the elevator but Nolan placed a hand on his chest, stopping him and instead, walking ahead. The human's eyes nervously shot down the hallway to see if the coast was clear before he sprinted towards the intensive care unit with Liam and I close behind.
The boy roughly pushed open the double doors of the hospital room. Two men and one woman lay in the beds in front of us, unconscious.
"They brought them in yesterday." Nolan spoke upon receiving confused stares from both Liam and I.
"Who are they?" Liam asked as I walked closer to one of the men, he was completely unresponsive, the only sign that he was alive was the machine beeping at his side.
"I-I don't know, but they brought them in last night." My eyes focused on the IV drip that was attached to the man's arm, the purple liquid sending alarm bells off in my brain.
"Do you know what that is?"
"Wolfsbane." Liam muttered darkly, his steely gaze trained on the liquid.
I look from the bodies in front of me to the boys. "So, what now?" Silence filled the room as none of us really knew what to do with this new information.
"We need help." Liam sighed. "I'll call Mason." The boy immediately took his phone from his pocket and pressed on his friend's contact. The subtle sound of the line ringing as Liam held his phone to his ear sounded through the room, I looked around the room for something to distract myself from the overwhelming silence. My eyes landed on Nolan, who stood in the corner of the room, staring down at one of the unconscious men. His blue eyes swept over the man's frame, a look of regret evident in his eyes. His brown hair is slightly too long, it falls over his eyes making them seem darker than they really are. I had often wondered what had made a boy, who had at first seemed like a nice, innocent boy into a hunter. My train of thought was interrupted by the rise of Liam's voice which caused Nolan to lift his eyes to the werewolf, but not before meeting my own, causing me to break eye-contact as quickly as I could, not that he was trying to keep it. "Can't we just pull them out?" Liam spoke before sighing at the answer his friend had given him. "All right, hurry." The boy hung up the phone, turning back around to us.
"Okay, uh, I'm going." Nolan stuttered, almost sprinting to the door but his path was suddenly blocked by Liam.
"Whoa, whoa, what about your plan?" Liam questioned and I snickered at the boy's obvious disappointment at not getting to beat Nolan up.
"Nobody saw you come in with me..." Nolan spoke timidly.
"So?" The beta asked with a raised brow.
"So, I don't have to get my ass kicked."
"Well, that was the only part of the plan that I liked." The boy shrugged and Nolan stared at him, his shoulders deflating. "Go." The corners of the boy's lips tilted upwards at Liam's unexpected words before he nodded at him and took a step toward the double doors. The boy pushed the open and glanced at me before he quickly took off down the hallway.
"I'm surprised." I comment, smirking at the werewolf in front of me. He rolled his eyes in response, a small smile making its way onto his face.
"Don't get too happy, I'll get him next time."
