It was a cold winter day, Michael watched the blonde from the audience. He knew that the blonde hated him, of course he wasn't sure why, but Michael didn't hate the boy like everyone assumed. In fact it was quite the opposite.
Luke was on the stage for the talent show, singing his favorite song; Invisible, yes the song was an original and he seemed kind of full of himself to say it was his favorite but he didn't care. He had wrote it about a week ago, just finishing it earlier that day. As he sang, he looked out in the audience to see none other than Michael Clifford.
Did Luke hate Michael? Yes, he really did. However, Luke could appreciate a very attractive boy no matter his feelings for him. Michael was a nuisance to say the least and Luke never wanted anything to do with him but that didn't mean he didn't secretly check him out every time he entered first period late.
After the talent show was over, Luke winning first of course, Michael just sat in the audience as everyone around him exited. He didn't want to go home because home was a shitty place, his only friend was home sick with strep and although Michael didn't mind missing school he didn't want to be sick either, so sitting in an empty auditorium was the only thing he felt at home doing. At least he thought it was empty.
Moments later someone cleared their throat making Michael jump. He looked up to see none other than the Luke Hemmings standing there. "Fuck," he mumbled.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." Luke lied, obviously very amused by his actions.
"Fuck off, Hemmings." Michael spat, although inside his heart was pounding and he had butterflies in his stomach. Michael never understood why the taller boy hated him so much.
"No thanks, Clifford." Honestly, Michael was slightly surprised Luke knew his last name or his name at all for that matter.
"What are you still doing here?" Michael raised his eyebrow, surprised when Luke sat in the seat next to him.
"I could ask you the same thing." Luke threw his feet up on the back of the seat in front of them, obviously getting comfortable.
"I don't want to go home and Ashton is sick." Luke knew that Ashton was the other out cast that Michael was always with, he wondered if Michael and Ashton were a couple. Michael and Ashton were both openly gay.
"Boyfriend?" Luke finally spoke up, this made Michael fall into a fit of laughter beside him which confused Luke. "What's so funny?"
"Boyfriend? Oh god no, he's just my best friend. Besides, I have my eyes on someone else." Michael answered after his laughter had somewhat died down.
"Oh." Was all Luke said.
"Hey Luke?" Michael said after a few moments of silence.
"Yeah?" Luke didn't know why the sound of his name coming from Michael's mouth made him get butterflies. Luke wasn't out but he had always known that he liked guys, however he never thought Michael would be the one to give him butterflies.
"I want to make a bet with you." Luke looked over at Michael as he spoke.
"A bet, what kind?"
"I bet that I could make you fall in love with me in twenty-four hours."
Luke was taken aback by the response and thought about it for a moment. "I doubt you could, besides I'm straight Michael."
"Luke, you and I both know you're no more straight than I am. I see the way you look at guys versus girls." Luke found himself in a slight panic. "Is the bet on or not?"
Luke thought for a few more minutes before answering, "It's on, Clifford."
Michael held out his hand and the two boys shook.
"We start Saturday morning at eight, which means I'll need to stay over at your house that night." Michael said after awhile.
"Okay. By the way, you're being timed."
