The two boys left the small shelter fifteen minutes into their fourth hour, but neither one regretted the decision.
It was silent between the two as they continued to walk in the direction of their next destination, well silent mostly besides the low growling that could be heard from the blonde boys stomach.
"So, Ashton works at Taco Bell and he told me you eat there a lot and I was going to get reservations at a fancy restaurant but I figured you wouldn't be interested in that so, uh, yeah." Michael rambled and Luke only smiled in response finding the amount the red-haired boy was flustered to be cute and amusing.
They headed into the Taco Bell once they arrived and Luke immediately rambled off his order, the same thing every day, and he wouldn't admit it but he was very glad they were here to eat.
Michael admired how the blonde knew exactly what he wanted but also found it so unbelievably amusing that the boy ate here enough to know exactly what he wanted without even glancing at the menu.
He on the other hand had no idea as he had never been to Taco Bell so he just got whatever the taller boy did, hoping he would like it.
"Would that be for here or to go?" The guy at the cash register smiled up at the red-haired boy who replied with a simple 'to go' surprising Luke.
About ten minutes later their order was ready and they headed out of the small restaurant before one of them spoke, "So, where are we going?"
"I thought we'd have a little picnic at the little park across from my place."
Luke only nodded and continued following the other boy.
-
Once they reached the nearly abandoned park, besides a couple of kids and parents who were nearly ready to leave, they sat on the freshly mowed grass and began sorting the food they had ordered.
Michael was only slightly surprised at the amount in the bag, although he did know that the blonde could eat he didn't know he could manage to down what he ordered and he knew for a fact he wouldn't be able to eat it all.
The taller boy began to dig into his food, completely in his own little world, so the other took this time to admire the boy he knew he was falling for.
Michael had always admired the way Luke looked, his laugh and his voice, his smile and his piercing, just everything really. However, just spending four hours with him all by themselves made his heart and stomach flutter.
Once Luke was on his third burrito he glanced up at the other, surprised to see he was already looking back, his food completely untouched.
"Michael, you need to eat that and stop checking me out."
This caused the elder of the two to snap out of his daze and he focused on unwrapping the first item in front of him before taking a hesitant bite.
To his surprise he loved it.
The two continued to eat in silence, the only sounds present were the soft chewing of their food and the crickets nearby.
-
It only took the pair thirty minutes to finish eating, Luke ended up eating half of Michael's as well knowing that he would never be able to waste the food from his favorite restaurant.
They decided to walk around the park until the clock hit one.
Small talk between the two was all that could be heard around the small park as they were now the only ones there.
Michael watched the taller boy next to him as he told him about a song he was working on. Without even thinking as he listened to the boy, he found himself grabbing the others hand and intertwining their fingers.
Luke flinched at the gesture, not expecting it, but within a second he was intertwining his fingers with the others as well, hiding the smile and the blush the best he could as he began speaking of the song again.
Michael couldn't take his eyes off their interlocked fingers as he listened to the other, wanting nothing more than to pull Luke in and kiss his stupid face.
"Michael?"
He snapped his head up to look at the other.
"Can I write a song about you?"
Michael blinked at the question not sure if he heard it right but nodded nonetheless.
Luke only smiled and for the next few minutes they walked in silence until the familiar phrase left the younger boys lips.
"Your fourth hour is over."
