You sat around the living room with everyone and you threw your head back. You couldn't stop thinking about what Emiko said, but you knew you needed to get out of this mood. You hated that you let whatever came out of her mouth hang you up.
"Can I ask you guys something?" You kept your eyes closed as they all replied in their own ways. "You like me for who I am, right?"
"What kind of question is that?" Sunwoo asked. "Why wouldn't we?"
You finally opened your eyes and looked at them. "I lied earlier when you asked what Emiko said to me, and please don't take this the wrong way." You paused. "She said that at this point, you're probably using me for some sort of benefit, fame to be exact. I don't think you guys would do that, but-"
"But?" Chanhee prompted.
"People have done it to me before, just for other reasons. My brother, my money, at some point I was too nice and people took advantage of me for that." You could tell how sappy you were being. "Never mind, this is pathetic."
You started to get up, but Jacob pulled you back down and made you look at him. "It's not pathetic, it's okay to ask questions when you need reassurance. I like you for you, what about you guys?"
You kept your eyes on him as he looked at everyone. "You're one of the truest people we've met in a long time." Sangyeon reassured.
"All that circus stuff is really amazing, you have so much talent," Changmin said. "But your personality is the real scene stealer in my opinion."
You felt very relieved to hear that from them. You were glad that they didn't take it the wrong way.
"Thank you, guys. I'm really grateful that I have you. I thought that I would be very lonely here."
For the third time that day, Jacob hugged you. It was one of the nicest feelings you had felt. You never really liked anyone, you were too busy with school and the circus to be involved with anyone. Was this feeling your indicator that you liked Jacob?
"Minji, you're so red!" Hyunjae exclaimed.
You covered your face with your right hand. "Am not!"
Juyeon mocked you playfully. "You so are!"
You were hiding your face in Jacob's shoulder when your phone began ringing. You took the opportunity to get away from your teasing friends and jumped up to answer it.
"Hyunjoon!" You smiled.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you so red?"
"Am I?" You laughed. "What's up?"
"I just wanted to check on you. How's your shoulder?"
"It's alright. Look at these bruises," you gently pulled your sleeve toward your neck and showed him the entirety of the dark spots. "Emiko keeps bothering me."
"What have I told you?"
"Sometimes, you can't be nice." You said, and he encouraged you with a short, "and?" "And never let anyone push you around."
He hummed. "Why do I keep hearing a bunch of male voices, Minji?"
With your right arm, you held your phone up high and had everyone except for Kevin and Sunwoo in the frame. "These are my friends. The only friends I have right now, by the way, so be nice."
"I'm nice!" He said dramatically. "That's just a lot of guys."
You rolled your eyes at your older brother and went into the kitchen. "This is Kevin and Sunwoo. They're making dinner for everyone since I can't help."
Hyunjoon smiled. "That's nice. Introduce me to everyone, one by one."
You did just that, and enjoyed the interactions they had with each other. You had to grab something and figured you'd leave your brother with the guys while you did so. You handed the phone to Juyeon, then shuffled into your bedroom.
"Where'd she go?"
Juyeon shrugged at your brother. "I have no clue, but I have a question." Hyunjoon nodded in response. "What is Minji like when she's really comfortable?"
Kevin and Sunwoo wanted to hear, so they all huddled around your phone. "Well, she seems really comfortable with all of you already, but there's one thing that you definitely don't want to see - her anger. Sometimes, she cries, but more times than not, she'll tear someone apart until they know their place with her. I've always taught her to never let people do her wrong, and she's taken everything I've said to heart. You guys have seen her go off on Emiko, but it really hasn't breached the surface."
"What do we do if that happens?" Jacob asked.
"If she cries, give her space and check up on her every now and then. She'll feel lonely if no one checks on her." Hyunjoon thought for a moment. "Minji always tries to be a nice person, so when she gets really angry like I've mentioned, it's best to leave her alone for a while. It takes her a very long time to cool off from something like that, since it's out of her character. If you happen to be around her and can't give her space, don't touch her, it'll make it worse."
Your brother paused as they retained the information. "But don't let me saying that discourage you. She's a beautiful person, inside and out, but she's human. She'll get upset, she'll get angry, she'll get hyper, just be there for her through it all. Take care of my baby sister since I can't right now, yeah?"
"We will, don't worry." Sangyeon answered. "Thank you for telling us all of that."
Hyunjoon smiled and you finally came back into the living room. "Sorry, I couldn't find my brush."
You put your head over your phone and smiled at your brother. "Thanks for keeping them company. Bye, Hyunjoon. Thank you for checking on me."
"Bye, Minji. Have fun."
He hung up and you threw your phone to the couch. You weren't looking at them, you were searching for the remote to your television, so you didn't see them all looking at you. It amazed them that someone like you existed: humble, kind, true, talented, and absolutely beautiful in every way.
