Chapter 8: Father-Daughter Dance

Kayla's POV

*1 week later*

"Hey Lonny." I smiled, answering the phone as I continued to cook dinner.

"Hey, um, I have something to tell you." I could tell he was nervous.

"What is it?"

"Uhhh, we have a tour coming up." He said quietly.

"That's great!" I said, having a small feeling that everything was not great.

"Yeah, but um, oh God, I have to miss the dance." He said. I dropped the spoon and leaned against the counter, properly holding the phone to my ear.

"What! Ugh, Hannah's going to be crushed!" I groaned.

"I know! I feel horrible! I'm so sorry! I totally forgot about this tour." He rambled.

"It's fine, it's just something you have to do." I shrugged with a sigh.

"Yeah, can you give the phone to Hannah so I can tell her?"

"Sure." I called Hannah down and handed her the phone. I saw her smile slowly fade and tears began to fill her eyes.

"It's okay Lonny, I understand. No, it's fine. Okay, bye." She hung up and handed the phone to me. I placed the phone on the counter and kneeled down to her height.

"Are you okay Hannah?" She nodded, wiping her eyes.

"It's fine, I should've expected something to happen, I knew things were going too well." She said sadly. I forced a smile and kissed her forehead.

"I promise you things are going to get better really soon, alright?" She nodded. "What if I go with you?" I suggested.

"It's not the same. It's okay, I'm just going to go back into my room." I nodded and watched as she walked away. My heart breaks for that little girl.

*Two weeks later*

Lonny left the day after he called. He came over to say goodbye and continued to apologize to Hannah. She kept saying she was fine but I knew she was heartbroken. Tonight was the night she was supposed to be gone but instead, she was sitting in her room, blasting music.

"Hannah! Do you wanna watch this movie with me?" I asked as she came out of her room.

"No, I just came out to go to the bathroom!" She called, the bathroom door shutting. She quickly returned to her room just as my movie started. Someone knocked on the door and I sighed, pausing my movie and getting up. I opened the door and was stunned to see Lonny standing there. My jaw dropped and my eyes were wide.

"L-Lonny, wh-what are you doing here?" I asked, gripping onto the doorway.

"Today was a day off so I got a flight out here!" He exclaimed. He was wearing a long sleeved black dress shirt and black jeans with black boots. He was also wearing a skinny black tie around his neck. He was carrying a single red rose.

"Let me get Hannah down here." I smiled, pecking his lips. "HANNAH!" I called.

"What?" She groaned, standing at the top of the stairs.

"Someone's here to see you." I smiled. She raised her eyebrow and continued down the stairs. I moved off to the side and once she saw Lonny, her eyes widened and a smile spread across her face.

"LONNY!" She squealed, running to him and latching onto him.

"Hey there girly." He smiled, hugging her tightly.

"You came!" She screeched, tears pouring down her face as her body was wrapped around his.

"Of course! This is for you." He said, handing her the rose. She inhaled the smell and smiled.

"I'll put that in a vase for you. Go get dressed!" She jumped off of Lonny and ran up the stairs. I smiled and passionately kissed him, throwing my arms around his neck as we waited. He placed his hands on my hips and pulled my close to his body. I broke the kiss and laid my head on his shoulder, swaying with him. "Thank you so much for this." I smiled.

"No problem, you know I love Hannah." He said, planting a kiss on my head. I picked my head back up again and began to passionately kiss him again.

"Hey, he's my date tonight." Hannah chuckled. I turned around and smiled at her.

"Of course. Follow me." I told her, leading her into the bathroom. I quickly curled her hair and added a light blue eyeshadow. I kissed her forehead and hugged her, telling her how beautiful she looked. I grabbed my phone and took a quick picture of her before taking a picture of her and Lonny. They left and I sat back down on the couch, continuing my movie. They returned two hours later and I've never seen Hannah that happy.

"How about you say goodbye to Lonny and go get your pajamas on." I said and she nodded, hugging Lonny and thanking him before running up the stairs.

"Thank you once again, I've never seen her that happy before." I smiled, pecking his lips. "Did you have fun?"

"Yup, your daughter's a pretty good dancer. Makes me wonder how good you are." He smiled, gripping my waist.

"Well maybe someday I'll show you." I smiled up at him, pecking his lips. One kiss turned into a long passionate one, his hands tangling in my hair.

"I got to catch my plane. When I get back, we're going dancing." He smiled, walking out of the house, still gripping my hand.

"Deal." We both smiled at each other one last time as he walked back out to his car. I closed the door and walked up the stairs, going into Hannah's room. She was already in bed, but her eyes were still open.

"Did you have fun tonight?" I asked, sitting at the foot of her bed and rubbing her leg.

"Yeah." She smiled. "I want Lonny to stick around forever." She smiled.

"Me too Hannah, me too." I said as I got up and kissed her nose. "I'll see you in the morning, alright?" She nodded, her eyes closing. I walked out of the room and walked back into the living room, turning off the TV and going to bed myself.
