The crowd clapped as dispersed after your friend and her newly-wed husband walked down the aisle. You straightened the beautiful pastel blue dress you were wearing as you got up too. Everyone was headed towards the grand reception room with a friend or their partner. You came to the wedding alone, so you didn't really have anyone. Instead of linking arms with someone, your eyes wandered around to land on someone somewhat familiar. He was a tall man, with a nicely done man bun, a scruff, and of caramel complexion. He wore a sharp black tux and a silk lavender pocket square. Needless to say, he was handsome. You couldn't really pinpoint where you saw him, but he seemed to look at you too.

He walked up to you and looked around you. "Need of some company, I see," he said.

"Yeah, I'm here alone. Emily, the bride, insisted I be here, but I don't know a lot of other people," you explained.

"Same case with me," the man chuckled. "The groom's a family friend, but I don't really know many others. I'm Dominic, by the way," he said as he extended his hand.

"Y/N," you said with a smile and shook his hand. It sent tiny tingles through your body.

"I guess everyone else is headed to the other room. Would you like to accompany me?" Dominic asked.

"Of course. Thank you Mr. Dominic," you said as you both walked to the reception. The food was excellent- it was a buffet. You ate as you talked with the man you had met just some time ago. You were glad you found someone to talk to and exchanged numbers as well. But all this time, you were trying to think of where you had seen him. Maybe at another party? Maybe in a picture Emily showed you?

After the dining, it was time to dance. The father and the bride danced first. You were getting teary-eyed seeing that, and Dominic offered you tissues. You laughed and accepted some, assuring him you weren't this dramatic all the time. Then the bride and groom danced. After that, people started trickling into the dance floor.

Dominic looked at you. "Yes?" he said.

You shook your head. "Oh no, I don't dance," you replied with a sheepish smile.

"Come on, Y/N. If you don't find yourself enjoying it, you can sit back down," Dominic pleaded.

You rolled your eyes and chuckled. "Ugh, fine, fine. But I'm not responsible for any broken toes."

"Ah, but you must be. My payroll depends on my feet," Dominic laughed. My payroll depends on my feet? And odd thing to say, but you were both talking in jest, so did it really have to make sense? Your thoughts were interrupted by Dominic putting out his hand. You put yours on top as he guided you to the dance floor.

Your heart skipped a beat when you locked hands with him, and he placed his arms around your waist. This handsome stranger was really having some effect on you. Who knew coming to a wedding of unfamiliar people would have its perks.

"By the way, Mr. Dominic, what made you come up and talk to me?" you asked as you were dancing.

"Well, you see, Ms. Y/N, you looked too pretty to just stand there all lonely," he replied.

You laughed at his corny line. "Is that your best line? You've really got to try harder than that."

The music in the background was slow and romantic. You don't know if it was that or this man standing in front of you that clouded your thoughts, but it felt like you couldn't even think straight. You tried hard to come up with something to say.

"Dominic?" you said.

"Hmm?" he replied.

"No broken toes yet," you chuckled.

"I knew you would be a good dancer. You were just nervous. Are you enjoying yourself?" Dominic asked.

You nodded and looked up at his eyes. "More than you know."

"In that case, I can afford a few broken bones here and there," Dominic laughed. You noticed how beautiful his smile was too. It made your stomach get butterflies and stopped you from breathing for a second.

You had to ask him now where you'd seen him. There would be no better time than this, as you heard the music slowly coming down to a stop. "Have we met before?"

"I don't think so," Dominic replied. "Wouldn't forget it if I met someone as stunning as you."

You rolled your eyes and blushed, trying to hide a smile. "Smooth, but I was asking because you just seemed familiar. And I can't think of where I saw you."

Ohh," he said. "From TV then." You looked at him, confused. The music had halted, and you both just stood there, facing each other.

"Dominic Calvert-Lewin. I play for Everton." You gasped at how obvious that payroll comment was. Of course, you'd seen him before. You didn't really watch Everton play, but you had seen glimpses of them here and there. And when they played against your team.

"I'm so sorry," you said, as you took a step back. "You must think I'm so dumb."

Dominic shook his head. "Not at all. In fact, it was nice to be normal and meet someone who spent time with me for me, not because of my career," he explained. He smiled and added, "Thank you for making this day so much better."

You both made your way to the side of the hall, where less people were talking. "So, you certainly don't fancy Everton, eh," Dominic laughed.

You shook your head. "I used to watch a lot more Premier League football in general but after starting a job, I spend my weekends just napping or going out," you said. "Sorry I didn't recognize you."

"I told you, it was actually nice. Nothing to apologize for and nothing to be ashamed of. Now, would you be opposed to coming to watch an Everton game? For me?" Dominic looked at you with eagerness.

"Club rivalries," you raised your brows.

"Maybe forget about that for one day," Dominic laughed and flashed another one of those beautiful smiles. "VIP seats? I'm telling you, you're going to want to ditch your club and call Goodison Park your home."

"A bit cocky, don't you think," you laughed and then looked down to think. "Sure, why not."

"Excellent, I'll be looking forward to seeing you, Ms. Y/N. And again, thank you for making today so wonderful," he said as he leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your cheek. You were sure your face was flushed by then. You couldn't believe what happened, and were over the moon to see him again.
