Sera's POV
I waved towards Crystal as she sped down the hallway, well I might as well hang out up on the roof again. As I continued strolling further down the corridor, I could see a pink-haired girl on the ground being beaten up by an orange-haired girl from the corner of my eye.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! Please let me go! I have an important class starting soon! "
"Hah! Do you think your half-hearted apology is enough?! What could be more important for you? "
A loud slap was heard behind me as I passed the two girls. I glanced over my shoulder to see the orange-haired girl continue to ramble about stupid stuff. I let out a sigh before slowly approaching them, this may not be the best idea but I can't just walk past them like I heard nothing.
"You are so useless! You can't do anything! You can't even apologize correctly! What a complete waste of space!"
"....!!!"
"Enough"
I grabbed the girl's arm right before she could lay another hand on the pink-haired girl on the ground. She snapped her head towards me and immediately choked on her words as soon as she saw me.
"S-Seraphina!?" She managed to say as I glared at her, while she was frozen in place from the shock I turned my head towards the pink-haired girl's direction.
"You"
"Uhhmm, y-yes?!"
"Go to your class"
"Uhh..."
As I held the girl's arm the short girl slowly stood up and bowed before speeding down the hall and towards her class. I let go of her arm and turn around and went on my way up to the roof where I usually hang out.
"You're supposed to look out for the rest of us!" It all happened so fast, as I glanced over my shoulder I saw a green laser come right at me. By instinct, I quickly shield myself with my arms when all of a sudden a yellow barrier appeared between us. The sound of footsteps echoing was heard with a familiar blonde boy along with it.
"My, my...what do we have here?" The girl shivered at him with tears in her eyes as she stood there scared and speechless. "A-Arlo?!"
He stepped in front of me and proceeded to lecture the orange-haired girl by making a barrier appear over her making her kneel on the ground, while I just stood there in the corner silently glaring at him.
"If I catch any of you overstepping the boundaries again...you'll have to answer to me." After his little speech, he walked over to me "We need to talk come with me". I was hesitant at first but followed him into an empty classroom anyway. As I slowly closed the classroom door he began his mini-lecture.
"This is why you need to constantly assert yourself. As long as you continue to remind them how powerful you are, then they won't question you. It's not that difficult! But instead, you quit turf Wars. Spend all day on the roof, away from the other students...then disappear for a month? It's no wonder she attacked you when you upset her. You've lost your presence in the school, they've all completely forgotten how strong you are."
"Please tell me this isn't why you called me here. If I wanted a lecture, I would've just called my mom" I said in a sarcastic tone as he walked over to one of the tables and sat on it
"I can't believe you. You would risk blowing your cover...Just to help some random low-tier? Is your head screwed on right? Do you know what kind of mess the hierarchy would be in--?"
"Arlo." I cut off the blonde boy as I grabbed one of the chairs and took a seat. "Don't be such a drama queen. We both know it wouldn't have affected you in the slightest. Even if I were discovered, you'd still be sitting comfortably on your throne. Anyway, I should be asking you the question."
"..."
"I'm technically a cripple right now. So, by standard rules, I deserve to be at the bottom of the ladder, no? Normally you would've just left me to be humiliated in front of everyone. Explain to me...Why'd you decided to step in? Why help a cripple?" And right as I said that he closed his eyes for a minute, making me raise an eyebrow"
"Well?" He let out a sigh before facing me.
"All of this is temporary. There is no point in causing an unnecessary disruption in order, it'll just be a waste of time and energy. As far as I'm concerned, you're still ranked higher than I am. So I'll watch your back until you recover."
"...Oh how noble of you..." I said sarcastically.
"What?" Asslo snapped his head my way as I rolled my eyes
"Sorry, I just don't buy it. I have been manipulated enough times to know by now...Whenever you involve yourself with me, it's always because you're trying to push some sort of hidden agenda" He stood there frozen and speechless at my words something must be going on here." I have no idea what you're up to. But I suggest you stay away from me." That is all I said before leaving the room. I let out a sigh as I continued walking the halls, why do I have a bad feeling about this. First John and now Arlo? Don't tell me Crystal is next. They seem more weird than usual after the incident, what happened while I was unconscious? I shook my head as I began approaching the gates of the building. Maybe I'm thinking too much of it, I just need some fresh air.
BZZZ BZZZZ~
I got my phone out of my pocket and opened it."Hmm?...Fyora? I furrowed my eyebrows at this, she never tries to contact me. And during class hours nonetheless? I wonder what's wrong...?!" I scrolled down through the missed messages and call history, until and a particular call caught my eye. "Huh? An outgoing call to Arlo? On the same day as the incident? But John never mentioned anything about this." I placed a finger on my chin as I narrowed my eyes at my phone
"According to him, Arlo was already there. If so then why call his phone afterward? And not mention it to me? What did they talk about? Something's fishy. John's story doesn't add up. Arlo values his time, he'd never spend half his day "tagging along" with Elaine either. Unless he had to gain something from it." My grip on my phone tightened as I gritted my teeth, I swear, Arlo... If you ever drag John or even Crystal into your plans...I will come for you.
