Alastor's ears twitched as he heard the faintest crying noises echoing through the castle, wakening the tired deer as he quietly climbs out of bed, snapping on his clothing. He followed the sound of the crying, ears twitching to lead him to the right directions as he navigates through the dark corridors. He stops in front of his step-daughters door, his ears lowering and he sighs in dismay, lightly knocking on the door before entering the room. "Most people wait for an answer before coming in" Octavia mumbles bitterly, Alastor sits next to her on the bed, hugging her to his side to comfort her. "What's wrong my dear?" Alastor asked softly, disregarding the young owls cold comment, making her sigh as she shuffles closer. "I just worry that...dad might cheat on you too, then you'll get angry and fight...then you'll leave" Octavia sniffles, tears stinging the corners of her eyes.

Alastor looks down at his step-daughter with concern in his eyes as he lightly rubs her back, trying his best to comfort the young girl, "I can assure you that won't happen darling" Alastor whispers softly. "Your father and I love each other very much, and I know your father would never do anything to upset or hurt us on purpose" Alastor soothes, petting the owlet's head. Seeing the young owls still worried expression, he picked up his microphone and began an ever so familiar song, a song he knew Octavia knew.

It always seems more quiet in the dark
It always feels so stark
How silence grows under the moon
Constellations gone so soon

I used to think that I was bold
I never thought love would be fun
Now all my stories have been told
Except for one

As the stars start to align
I hope you take it as a sign
That you'll be okay
Everything will be okay

And if the seven rings collapse
Although the day could be my last
You will be okay
When I'm gone you'll be okay

And when creation goes to die
You can find me in the sky
Upon the last day
And you will be okay

"That's dad's song" Octavia mutters, thinking back to when her father would sing that song for her when she would have nightmares as a child. "Indeed, your father had taught me that song per my request quite some time ago" Alastor confirms. In truth, Alastor had night terrors often times throughout the night, for some reason or another, and Stolas often sang him that same song as a means to calm him down. Finally, Octavia had been sufficiently calmed down, he tucked in the young owl and stepped out of the room, jumping as he sees a shadow swiftly move from the corner of his eye. Alastor sighs in relief as he feels familiar thin arms wrap around his waist, "you're such a great father darling" Stolas whispers softly in Alastor's ear. Alastor smiles softly, it was much needed reassurance, as he often times did have his doubts if he was a good step-father, so his beloveds reassurance soothed his worries. At least...those worries, as a connoisseur of music he knew well and good all songs hold a meaning, and the lyrics of that particular song held very...troubling meaning. He'd have to discuss the song with Stolas later, for now, he was dreadfully tired and wanted nothing more then to falls asleep.

Several years went by, Stolas and Alastor got married, and what an absolutely beautiful wedding it was, Octavia couldn't have been more happy seeing her two dads so happy. Then...the angels came down, this time, they came to exterminate all of hell, throwing everything into disarray as angels and demons died by the second. Stolas and Alastor tried there best to provide shelter and fight off the angels, but there were many of them, and many demon lives were lost. Then, suddenly, an angel lunged at the unsuspecting Octavia, the young owl gasping as she was paralyzed with fear. Stolas tried to run to her side, trying to save his daughter from the angels grasp, but he was much to far away to reach her in time. Octavia squeezed her eyes shut tight, fear shaking her to her core as she awaited her incoming death, but it never came. There was the sound of a nauseating squish just above her, she gasped as her eyes flew open, tears flowing down her face at the scene before her. Alastor stood before her, a holy spear lodged in his chest, as the deer demons shadows tore the angel to shreds for harming their master. Octavia was in shock, Alastor stood above her before collapsing so the ground, impaled on a holy spear with dark crimson blood soaking his suit and cascading from his mouth.

"Are you alright my dear...?" Alastor asked weakly, Octavia glares and begins shouting, "am I ok!? Papa you're dying! Be more concerned about yourself, heal yourself with you voodoo magic! Do something!" Octavia shouts at her step-father, tears covering her face as she's struck with grief. Stolas ran over, calling out to his husband and daughter as he cradled Alastor's limp body in his arms. "Alastor..." Stolas says softly, the owl demon looking more distraught then the owlet had ever seen her father. The deer demon weakly gripped the hell princes claw in his own, a weak smile still pressed on his lips as he looks up at the love of his afterlife, "Stolas my love...even if for just a short time, I'm glad I was able to fall in love with you". Both owl demons were shaking as broken sobs racked their bodies, the deers ears falling back as he tried to cling to life just long enough to calm them. "Come now, smile my dears, you know you're never fully dressed-" but before Alastor could finish his iconic phrase, his breathing stopped. Time seemed to stop as Alastor's grip on Stolas claw went limp, and his body quickly turned cold, and all Stolas could do was stare as his true love died in his arms.

Alastor's sacrifice was at the very least not in vain, not long after the war between the angels and demons ended, many injured, many dead, but many survived. A memorial was held for Alastor at the hotel, all of the hotel staff and many of the demons Alastor helped survive gathered to mourn the radio demon. Nifty and Charlie couldn't stop themselves from bawling, Angel wasn't far from joining them, even Vaggie and Husk were trying to pretend like they weren't crying a bit. Yet no one was nearly as affected as the family he died to protect. Stolas initially didn't want Octavia to go, but he couldn't deny her a right to mourn her step-father, and he needed to grieve himself. Things were very different in the Goetia castle after that. Alastor brought a bright light and a liveliness to the castle, something that could never be replaced nor replicated, now the castle was dark and dead. The owl demons didn't even attempt to act like things were normal, there was no way they could, grief had shook them to the bone. Octavia hot night terrors every night, as she blamed herself for her papa's death, if she had only run away he might still be alive, they could be happy again.
Stolas faired no better, as he clutched the opposite side of a half-empty bed where his husband used to lay beside him. There was no soft purring to lull him to sleep, no soft smile brightening up his day, no chipper "good morning" or "I love you". Nothing, he was...alone.

Several years went by, and while time did heal all wounds, the hotel staff and Alastor's family were left with scars on their hearts. Stolas was scheduled to have a meeting with the King Lucifer today, and while he wasn't quite sure why the king insisted it has to be at his castle, he wasn't in the mood to question it. Lucifer stepped into the castle, not at all surprised by the thick gloomy aura that radiated off every corridor. "My what lovely paintings! A rather interesting family, I do have to wonder who that red fellow is though!" Lucifer's company remarks. His company being a human that has made a deal with him, and Lucifer had a plan for him. The human had brown sun kissed skin, chocolate brown hair, crimson eyes widen with insanity, and he always had a grin plastered on his face. "You'll learn soon enough my friend" Lucifer answers with a hidden smirk, leading the human to the dining hall.

When they arrived, Stolas had to do a double-take as he looked at the kings human companion, and before he could even breath, he caught himself saying it, "Alastor...". Alastor gasped as he looked into the owl demons eyes, something about those ruby red eyes stirred up something in his soul, like he knew those eyes somewhere. "Dad I-" Octavia started, walking into the room before stopping in her tracks as she saw the king and human duo. She starts to tear up as she ran over towards the humans, tackling him in a hug as the grief overcame her. "Papa!" Octavia cried out, gripping her step-fathers new body for dear life, as she feared what would happen if she let go. That was the final puzzle piece, all the memories flooded Alastor's mind at once as he looked down at his crying step-daughter. He smiles softly as he soothingly pets her head, Stolas walking over and placing a claw on Alastor's cheek, to which he leaned into the touch. The two men smiled at one another as they hugged there daughter close to them, Alastor finally saying those words that Stolas craved to hear so long. "I love you". Octavia looked up at her fathers in content, Alastor hadn't lied to her it seemed, he will always be there.
