Group therapy

I walked into the group therapy room and didn't see anything worrisome. It looked exactly like you'd think it would, chairs in a circle with everyone facing each other. "Please sit," said a young man. I took the only free seat in between a girl with bright blue hair and gorgeous green eyes but, they were sunken in. She had a very angled face. She was skinny almost too skinny, she had really pretty mermaid hair with dull skin. She was on my left. The girl on my right was very pale with green eyes and brown hair and a very round face. "Alright let's introduce ourselves." Said the man, he started passing out a piece of laminated paper that had emotions written on it and little faces that corresponded with the emotions. "Ok so the way group therapy works to all those who are new here." He said almost glaring at me. "You introduce yourself by saying your name, age, where you live, why you're here and something you like and 3 emotions from the paper. Everyone understand?" He asked and everyone nodded. "Ok why don't you start." He said pointing at me.
"M-m-m-me?" I pointed to myself with a puzzled look.
"Yes you, what's your name?"
"Ariel" I managed to say. I was shaking I thought I was going to have a panic attack.
"Okay how old are you?"
"I'm 16." I said more relaxed.
"Now where do you live Ariel?"
"Cape May." I said slowly feeling my confidence build.
"Wow that's a long way to come for a mental hospital." He said with a face that genuinely looked shocked.
"I was visiting family here and we'll here I am I guess." I shrugged.
"Now why are you here?"
"Supposedly I have a music 'addiction'" I said putting air quotes around the word addiction. "Also for my depression, which I personally think is a more valid reason to be here." I said adding a sassy tone in my voice.
"Now what's something you like?"
"Harry Potter" I immediately answered.
"Now how are you feeling pick 3 emotions on the piece of paper I gave you." He gestured towards the paper in my hand.
I quickly glanced at it and picked the first 3 I saw. "I'm feeling anxious, scared, and confused." I stated
"Alright let's explore that. Why are you feeling anxious?"
"Well I'm in a room with people I don't know in a place I've never been why else would I be anxious?"
"Does anyone have anything to add to that about a personal experience?" He looked around the room and almost everyone tried to avoid eye contact except for the girl on my right she practically popped out of her seat. She stood up and turned to me. "Sit back down we shouldn't overwhelm her Kate." He said. So she sat on the floor in front of me not caring about what he said. He rolled his eyes. I guess she does this a lot. I thought to myself.
Kate said, "I understand what you're feeling. When I first came here I was so freaked out I had a panic attack that was so bad I threw up and passed out. When I woke up I was in the nurses ward because when I fell I got a concussion. Turns out I hit my head on a table or something..." I thought it was so weird how confident and open she was with everything she just said.
"Let her finish Kate." Said the man sternly. "Ariel what's a goal you'd like to accomplish while you're in here?"
"I'd like to leave that's my goal." I said in a very sassy tone.
"Ok." He gave me a surprised look and when I looked around almost all the girls looked at me in shock and awe except maybe the blue haired girl and Kate. "Alright Kate since you seem so eager to share why don't you go next you know the drill." He said rolling his eyes clearly annoyed.
"Ok!" She said then took a deep breath. "My name is Kate I'm 17 I live in howell I like drawing I'm here because of my self harm, bulimia, bipolar disorder, I'm suicidal, depressed I have bad anxiety and my bad music addiction." She said all in one breath and quickly stopped to take another deep breath. "Today I'm excited, nervous, and CELEBRATING!!"
"That is not an emotion you have to pick emotions on the page and celebrating isn't even an emotion." He said impatiently crossing his arms and tapping his foot while rolling his eyes. 'God if he doesn't stop rolling his eyes they're going to get stuck like that' I thought to myself. "OK THATS IT! KATE, ARIEL LEAVE NOW! I DONT DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS!" He screamed. I was both terrified and confused 'we didn't do anything wrong' I thought. When I looked around the room everyone looked at me with their mouth hanging open in shock. "LEAVE NOW!" He screamed again pointing to Kate and I. She jumped up and ran out I quickly did the same following her. It took a little while but I found her laying on the bathroom floor crying.
