The next day was a flurry of worries and straightening dresses. May looked so sad that she wished she could come with us. America smilled, and fixed the tie on Gerad's little coat. His chest was puffed out proudly, and I smiled. He looked so grown up.

My smile faltered as Aspen passed me, rigid. His stance was hardened. America watched him as I did, wondering what was wrong. He moved swiftly and carefully.

"My Lady." I curtsied in front of America, determined to show Aspen how little I felt about him. Magda stopped me from going out the door.

"Lucy, dear, thank you for helping us." she fumbled with her fingers, trying to find a way to give us more.

"The pleasure was all mine, Ms. Singer." I responded, nothing but respect in my eyes.

She nodded and let me pass. "Where are your pillow and blanket?" she calls after me, and I freeze.

Plastering a smile on my face, I yell, "In the treehouse!"

She nods, looking a little confused as to why the comfort was there, but nevertheless, carried on with her duty. May waved elegantly, as if she was already trying to become Princess.

We had arrived at the Carolina airport, and many of America' loved fans approached us, throwing flowers and kisses. The Twos and Threes looked angry, and one was staring daggers at us with her parents. There was a weird sense of deja vu, but I ignored it.

Another girl held a weathered sign that had often been out in the sun.  I think it had meant to say, Red Heads Rule, but instead, it said, Ed Head Rue. I laughed to myself, and covered my mouth with my hand.

Aspen awaited s in the plane, and I was scared. He was assigned next to me. I took in a deep breath as he settled in next to me.

"Hey Lucy," he breathed, his voice unsteady.

"Officer Leger." I greeted, and looked out the plane window.

In the corner of my eye, I saw him shake his head and nudge a guard next to him, who nodded, and went to the pilot's arena.

"We need to talk."
