"So that didn't go to plan," I said as I walked out of the clothing store.
"I didn't know they could say no as soon as you walked in! They could've waited for you to put in an application at the very least." James replied, while folding in half, laughing.
"You're really helping my confidence level right now, James." I said sternly as we walked to our next destination.
We arrived at a small coffee shop called, Thinking Cup, that I didn't know existed until that very moment.
Walking in, I realized everyone looked right at me. Everyone being two people and the person behind the corner, but still people. I looked around at the cozy, fire in the corner, rug on the floor, little tables with a few chairs lining the walls, and realized I was way over dressed. I walked a little bit further to the counter.
"Hi, I was wondering if I could work here?" I said politely. I Glanced at James, who was looking around at the walls that were lined with book posters I'd never heard of; in this time the women behind the counter replied.
"Any job experience?" She said.
"Uh... no...?" I stuttered nervously.
"Oh well, you're in. When can you start working?"
"Wait, are you the manager?" I asked, surprised. I didn't even know you could be hired right off the bat.
"Well I'm the only one who works here until now. Now, when can you start?"
"Tomorrow should be fine!" I said, way to enthusiastically.
"Alright. See you tomorrow. You start at 6am. and your shift will end at 1pm. I'll show you the ropes when you get here tomorrow." She said. She seems nice, but kind of all knowing. So this'll be interesting.
"Okay! I won't be late!"
James and I walked out of the cafe. The moment the door closed we jumped up and down for excitement. After 5 minutes of that, we realized how stupid we looked and burst out laughing.
We then walked back to the car and I changed inside the car to the shirt and shorts I'd brought. After I got out I saw James waiting at the curb. I ran up to him and stood in front of him. I put my hand on James' shoulder and looked him in the eyes and said, "James."
He stopped laughing and looked me dead in the eyes, "Yes?" He stuttered.
"Do you know what time it is?" I said, still very serious.
He slowly pulled out his phone and said, "11:28?" He said slowly.
"Yes but it's also," pause for effect, "celebration time."
He let out a huge sigh and said, "You had me worried for a bit there."
"That's my job!" We both laughed and started walking towards the mall.
Upon arriving at the mall, we went to the food court and ate pretzels. A food we have to eat every time we come to the mall, no exceptions. We then went to a place you can build your own bears, and we each made one that looked professional. Mine was in a grey suit, holding a clipboard, and wearing glasses. James bear was wearing a tux, his definition was professional but mine for it is groom. After that, we went clothes shopping for some new tops. I got some fall colored tops that had baggy sleeves. I got some flannels as well, and some beanies of various colors.
After going shopping we walked back to the car. The weather had gotten slightly colder, so we walked quickly. I don't think I've ever started a car so fast in my life. Except that one time in the summer when it was 97 degrees outside.
We then went to party city for Halloween costumes. Although this was a last minute decision, it was a smart one. We ended up going with pirates. Although I just turned 18 and James is 18, we still go trick or treating. Yes, we do get made fun of, but you can't deny that it's be a fun time. We then went back to my house.
