New Romantics

a fresh new start

"KAT!" my mothers voice calls from outside my dorm.

"yeah?" i yell back.

"you almost forgot this." she says as she swings open the door revealing herself and a cardboard box entitled "makeup".

'thank you! i dont think i could have survived without that!" i screamed a bit relieved.

"oh whatever you dont even need it." my mom tells me. i dont even bother arguing back because i dont want to hear a whole speech about how true beauty is on the inside blah blah blah.

"im going to miss you so much." i gush extended out my arms for a hug.she hugs back and begins to cry. "oh mom you promised you wouldnt cry."

"i know i know. im sorry." she pulls back and wipes her tears. i give her a soft smile and she says "you know you are going to hjave to call me every day."

i chuckle and roll my eyes. "i'll try my best."

my dad suddenly walks in my room and says "sorry to break it up guys but this is the last box." he sets down a small cardboard box on my bed."im going to miss ya kiddo." he reaches out for a hug. i accept it and smile into his chest.

"i know ill miss you too dad."

"ok we should probably get going unless you want your mom to change her mind about letting you come here and take you home with us." my dad jokes. i laugh even though i could easily see my mother doing so.

"bye guys. i love you and ill miss you both. and seriously dont worry about me! ill be fine. im a big girl now." i said while staring at my mother. she lets out a snicker as she wipes a tear away. 

i sigh as they finally exit my room. thank god. i literally thought my dad would have to drag my mom outta here.

i plopped down on my bed and smiled to myself. time to start a new chapter in my life.
