Chapter: Nine

Dates

"The Yule Ball," Professor McGonagall started. "Is a traditional part of the tri wizard tournament since its inception. On Christmas eve night, we and our guests gather in the great hall for a night of well-mannered frivolity. As the representative of the host school, I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot and I mean this literally because the Yule Ball is first and foremost, a dance."

"A dance?" Hailey whispered wide eyes looking at the girls as the hall buzzed with chatter. She always wanted to go to a ball. Wear gowns and make-up. Dance and have a great time with her friends. It was a dream.

"Maybe that's why Mrs Weasley sent Ron a dress robe," Hermione said with a giggle.

"Silence," McGonagall said. "The house of Godric Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the wizarding world for nearly ten years."

"Well, that might be ruined this year," Angelina whispered as Hailey nodded along with a small laugh.

"Inside every girl a secret sawn slumbers, longing to burst forward and take flight." Professor continued. Ron had whispered something making the boys laugh slightly. "Inside every boy, a lordly lion prepared to prance. Now Mr Weasley."

"Yes," Ron muttered sinking in his seat.

"Will you join me please?" She said pulling him by his shoulder, Harry nudged him and pushed him forward before turning to his sister with an amused smirk.

"Now, place your right hand on my waist."

"Where?"

"My waist." He awkwardly stood there before looking at Professor. He kept his hand on her waist and Fred whistled loudly. Ron was about to move his hand but the professor didn't let him.

Mr Filch played the recorder for music. "Go, Ronald!" Hailey cheered as his face went redder than his hair. She was enjoying seeing him so miserable. He looked at her before groaning once again.

"Everyone come together," McGonagall instructed. Hermione let out a laugh before getting up and dancing with Harry. Hailey had no idea who to dance with. She was relieved when Fred came over and asked her to dance. More like told her to dance with him.

"Hey Hails, we're dancing."

"Are we?"

"Oh c'mon. Don't say you don't want to dance with me. I'm the handsome twin after all." He said as she rolled her eyes.

"You and your ego Freddie."

He kept a hand on her waist and she kept a hand on his shoulder. "Poor Ron," Hailey said as she saw Ron glancing over at them.

"Yeah, didn't think McGonagall was his type. But guess I was wrong. I thought he was into you. That's what he's always talking about. Hailey this, Hailey that. You've got our Ronniekins wrapped around your little fingers." He said making her go red.

"That's not true." She said trying to hide her face from Fred.

"Oh yeah? You should spend the summer at our place with the invisibility cloak on. Then you'll see. More like runaway cause it's annoying."
