As far as I can remember, I don't recall having any friends at all, just some simple acquaintances. that's must be why I can keep on thinking of what is this excitement that unexpectedly rose inside me?

Is it because of the reason of me being a loner in my previous life? Living as Jennette in this medieval world is tough, I had to hide my true identity to overthrow the current emperor from his throne. But I don't like that kind of ending.

I wanted to be close to the princess at least but getting closer to her takes a huge risk in endangering the whole royal family. With the black magic surrounding me, I would never dare to ruin anyone else life just because I wanted it.

"My lady?"

And interrupting me with my narrating corner, Anna the spy maid who's back from being sick is now knocking on my door.

"What is it?" I steadily replied as I put down the teacup, making a slight noise out of it so that Anna could hear it.

Speaking of Anna the spy, as far as I have observed from her actions these past few years, I can deduct that she's not part of the organization which sent the assassins all these years. So I guess, Anna is working for Mr. Alpheus after all. And If she was part of the organization she must have died long ago already.

"The master is calling you to his office" she gallantly replied, I blindingly nodded as I picked up the teacup saying that, "I'll go after I finish my tea"

'My greatest apologies Mr. Alpheus it seems like you'll have to wait for a while. I'm not the type to eagerly listen to your every word you know'

Old white doggy's POV

'What's taking her so long?'

I've been tapping my foot all this time waiting for my niece, Jennette to come over to my office. But I calmed myself down with some tea

I can't believe she's a mere 9-year-old kid when she could speak like that. She's just exactly like the princess, a very mature people unlike kids their age. I would prefer it more if she could act more like a kid than this side of hers. It's irritating.

Just wait, once I take over this empire I'll be sure to dispose of you. But not now, you're a very important pawn for my plan.

I maniacally laughed inside my head after those thoughts popped up inside my head. However, my patience has run out.

I was about to jump off my seat to hurry and call her but it seems like there's no reason to anymore.

"Duke, Lady Jennette has arrived"

Finally! It feels like ages since I've seen you, my niece.

"Send her in"

With the silent tapping shoes of hers, and the green laced dress in sight, blue round eyes and brunette colored hair. She entered my office and offered me an elegant bow, as usual, she won't give me a sincere smile but a smile of formality.

Madam Ludrick must have thought her proper etiquette just from seeing her great performance just now. I'm surprised she's still nine.

"May I ask what have you called me here for, Mr. Alpheus?" She bluntly asks me with polite words and tone but the look in her eyes could easily scoop out my eyeballs. And as expected she still wouldn't call me 'Uncle' it's not surprising I did something wrong to her in the past.

"Have you heard about the news about the emperor founding a new academy?" I said as I continued signing the stacked documents on my table.

She raised another question alongside the words of reply, "I guess I have heard of the rumors, however, what has that have anything to do with me?". With her quick-witted personality I doubt that she doesn't know the reason why I told her of this news, she's just pretending to be a fool to provoke me. Nice try.

"I'll send you to the academy when it opens in the next three months, will that be alright with you?" I said with the words of asking for permission, how stupid of me. I made a mistake in my words after seeing her calm disapproving face.

She stared at my eyes for a while, the silence broke when she opened her mouth to answer my question, "I guess I shall attend the Academy."

She

Did she agree?

I thought she would bluntly reply, |"My apologies Mr. Alpheus, but I think I should decline your kind offer"|

Isn't that what's it suppose to be?

Anyways, she agreed and that's all that matters. I already have a plan for this case. Thankfully she made my life easier than ever.

As I was blank from the stunning reply, I opened my eyes wide and I can still see her steady stance in front of my desk, waiting for what my next words would be.

"T-that's good! That's good!"

Yeah very good!

"I'll inform you of the day of the exam. Until then I expect you to study for the entrance examination."

"Then, I shall excuse myself" she turned her back around and exited my office. Once she's gone I sighed in relief from the tense conversation.

I wiped off my sweat with a yellow handkerchief. Thinking about my son who is currently in Arlanta who hasn't had the chance to attend the Academy this year.

Maybe it'll be 5 years before he'll be back.
