Chapter 3
A thick December snow fell silently throughout the campus, covering everything in a blanket of white that glowed in the full moon light. The air was a vacuum in the silence. Most of the students had gone home to visit family for the holidays, and those who had stayed were hunkered down in their dorms, away from the biting cold.

Hinata lay curled up in her twin bed, sleeping soundly. TenTen had gone home for the winter break. Hinata had decided to stay at the campus for reasons she wouldn t elaborate, but she enjoyed the solitude; after her first date with Naruto TenTen was constantly hounding her for the latest details of their budding romance.

A tapping on the window outside roused Hinata from her deep slumber. When she sat up she saw small pebbles flying up against the glass.

What in the world ?

She groggily shuffled to the window, and did a double take when she saw what awaited her outside.

It was Naruto. His black beanie was pulled low over his ears, and he d worn a thick black winter coat instead of his typical orange hoodie. Olive cargo pants and black snow boots completed his cold weather attire. His smile brightened when he saw Hinata at the window, and in turn his crooked grin and shining blue eyes made her heart flutter. She quickly wrapped a robe around herself and pulled the window up.

"Naruto! What are you doing out here?" she whispered, just loud enough for him to hear.

"To see you of course. I know it s late and kind of improper, but I was just laying in bed trying to sleep and the moon was right in my face, and I dunno why but I just got this sudden need to see you."

"Why didn t you call?"

"I tried, but your phone was off."

"Oh, it died earlier but I thought I d put it on the charger "

"Doesn t matter now, I m already here hehe."

"But you know the rules, no boys are allowed in the dorm."

"What the R.A. doesn t know won t hurt her. Open the window a little more, I m coming up."

Hinata pulled the window up further as Naruto climbed up to her floor by the drainpipes. He swung into her window, but only made it halfway. His midsection caught on the window sill.

"Uff!"

"Naruto!" Hinata grabbed his arms and helped him get the rest of his body into the room. She closed the window and pulled the curtains together. Naruto hugged himself for a moment, then stood and grinned at Hinata. She blushed and hugged her robe more tightly to her body, suddenly regretting the decision to wear a tank top and hot-pants to bed, despite how warm the dorm was.

"Um, do you want to sit down?" Hinata quickly spread her blanket flat across her bed and sat down, inviting Naruto to join her.

"Yeah, one sec." He unzipped his coat and kicked off his shoes. Under his coat he wore a black fitted thermal long-sleeve shirt that hugged the frame of his body, showing off his lean, sculpted muscles. Hinata caught herself staring and quickly looked down, hoping he hadn t caught her ogling him. Naruto sat down next to her. He let one long leg hang off the small bed, tucking his other leg underneath. While Hinata bashfully stared at the floor, he occupied himself by admiring the posters and photos all over her side of the room. One poster was of a pair of lions painted in blue and black, each looking off into opposite directions, their manes joining in the center. Next to it hung a photo of Hinata and what he expected was her family; a woman with long dark hair that looked much like Hinata, and a man and a younger girl each with dark brown hair a little lighter than Hinata s. The man s stoic face contrasted sharply against the woman and girls cheery smiles. On another part of the wall hung a set of photos connected by a string. Hinata was once again in each photo, but instead of her family she was posing with two boys and a large dog. Naruto felt a scowl growing on his face as he wondered who these boys might be.
