Forever and always (TenMaki)

Part 1

Maki Harukawa and Tenko Chabashira. They had known each other since freshman year of highschool, and they had been in a relationship since senior year. Everyone they had went to school with knew about their seemingly perfect relationship. It started when they were just seventeen, and now the both of them were nearly twenty-three. Six years together, six years well spent. But now things seemed just a little bit different. A little bit "off," per-say. Everything wasn't as it was before, and both Maki, and Tenko had noticed it. Since neither of them knew what the change was, both women simply decided to ignore it.

    "Maki, can you get me a bottle of water from the kitchen?" Tenko called out to her girlfriend from the bedroom, fidgeting with the stem of a flower.

    "Yeah, alright. I'll have it for you in a minute." Maki stood up off the couch to get what Tenko had requested, her socks picking up dust as she shuffled her feet across the hardwood floor into the kitchen. She quickly scanned the inside of the refrigerator, finding what she needed after just a moment. Picking up the water bottle, she shut the refrigerator door, making her way into the bedroom she shared with her significant other to give her the drink.

    "Thanks Makiiiiii!!!" Tenko smiled brightly, taking the bottle from Maki once she got close enough for her to do so.

    "It's not a problem." The assassin flashed a soft smile, showing genuine emotion unlike her usual resting bitch face.

    "Can I have a kiss?" Tenko asked quietly, opening the water and having a sip. Her tone was slightly... worried? "No, no. That couldn't be." Maki assured herself. "We've been together for nearly 6 years. She wouldn't be worrying over something as small as a kiss."

    "Of course you can have one, Tenks..." She murmured before quickly kissing her girlfriend. "You don't have to ask, you know." The green haired girl nodded her head cautiously, seeming to hesitate before allowing herself to speak.

    "I just... worry... a lot..." She took pauses between certain words, as if the sentence was difficult for her to piece together.

    "Don't worry!" Maki smiled brightly, taking her partner by the hand. "We're gonna love each other forever and ever. Just like we said we would! And we're gonna get our happy ending." Tenko smiled a bit, nodding in agreement.

    "Y-yeah..! And we're gonna be happy forever," She added. Maki sat next to Tenko on the bed, resting her head on her shoulder.

    "Mhm. I love you." Maki added the last three words almost instinctively. She had repeated that phrase hundreds of times throughout the past 6 years, so saying it had just become a habit at this point. "Of course, the message hasn't lost meaning..." She told herself, planting a kiss on Tenko's cheek.

    "I love you too, Maki... forever and always." She squeezed her lover slightly, seeming more comfortable than earlier.

    "Mhm... forever and always."
