When we got home, I collapsed onto my bed and immediately let out the loudest, most high-pitched squeal of my life. My arms flailed, my legs kicked, and I rolled onto my back like some overly dramatic protagonist in a teen rom-com. My cheeks ached from smiling. My heart was still racing like it hadn't realized the moment had passed.

I had my first kiss. My first real kiss.

A giddy laugh bubbled out of me, echoing in my room. It felt like every part of me was buzzing. My skin still tingled where he had touched me, and my lips felt... different. Like they'd been permanently changed. Like they remembered him.

Myles.

My cousin's best friend.

My first kiss.

And it hadn't been clumsy or awkward or weird. It had been soft, careful, so full of something I couldn't even name. The way his eyes had looked at me just before. Like I was something rare and delicate and a little bit magical. Made my chest ache all over again.

I pressed a pillow to my face to muffle the scream rising in my throat and kicked my feet harder. I couldn't hold it in. I didn't want to.

With shaking fingers, I grabbed my phone and fumbled to open it, my hands clumsy from adrenaline. I tapped Valeria's name with such force it was a miracle I didn't crack the screen. The video call icon lit up, and I held my breath.

She picked up after three rings.

Her face filled the screen. Hair in a lazy bun, skin glowing under the soft lamp behind her... She blinked at me with a mix of amusement and mild exasperation.

"Look who finally remembered her best friend exists!" she said in a mockingly serious voice, raising an eyebrow. "I was starting to think you died. Or got kidnapped. Or worse, got grounded ."

"Shut up!" I blurted, too excited to banter. "You're not going to believe what just happened! I just had my first kiss. My first kiss, Val!"

For a beat, her expression freeze. And then-

"No way!" she screamed, so loud I had to lower the volume. "You did not!" Her eyes widened so much it looked like they'd fall out of her head. She grabbed her pillow and screamed into it before looking back at the screen, practically vibrating.

"Okay. Talk. Now. I want every. Single. Detail. Who, what, when, where, how. Was it soft? Was it passionate? Did he grab your face? Did you melt into him? Were there fireworks? What did you do with your hands?!"

I couldn't stop laughing. I was talking so fast I was nearly out of breath, spilling everything from how it happened to how Myles had looked afterward. I was so hard trying to describe in detail his stunned smile, the way his ears had turned red, the way we couldn't stop grinning like idiots the entire ride back, yet the words couldn't come to mind... The mere image of his ocean-blue yes piercing through my chocolate-brown ones was enough for me to come up with various adjectives for just them!

"And then when we got back, he just looked at me like... like I was the only person in the world. And then he texted me the second he got home just to say, 'Goodnight, beautiful.'!" I squealed excitedly, softly kicking my feet "I swear to you,
Val, I'm not okay! I think I'm in love!"

Valeria gasped, clasping her hands together like she was praying. "You're living my dream. I hate you and love you so much right now. Oh my God, Nef. That's like... that's like fairytale-level sweet. Did you cry? Because I would've cried."
