"Mother, Mother, where did you go?" Koji pouted. He remembered the clue she had given him, contemplating it carefully. 'I'm in your hiding spot,' she had written on the paper. He stood up, looking around the run-down trailer. She wasn't under the table, hiding behind the stained tablecloth. That meant she was on top of the trailer! Giggling, he ran to the ladder leading to the roof, climbed up, and popped his head through the roof hatch. "Eomma!" he squealed when he saw her sitting a few feet away.
"Little one, you found me!" Her blue eyes sparkled as she pulled him close. "Did you make sure not to wake your sister?" She flashed him a stern stare, but tittered and hurriedly shushed him when he started to loudly protest at how quiet he'd been.
"Yes Eomma, she's still on the bed... he trailed off.
"What is is Koji? You need to finish your sentances. It's the only way to tell me how you feel." she said, cupping his face in her hands.
"Eomma, do you think I could...Can I-"
"Ah!" she exclaimed. "That isn't good grammar. It isn't can I..."
"It's may I." He hesitated. "May I...hold her? I promise she isn't too heavy!" Koji looked at her with pleading eyes.
His mother smiled softly. "Oh, I can't wait until Bitna grows up and sees how her sweet, strong, handsom brother takes care of her." She looked off into nothingness, thinking. "I don't know if you can hold her just yet..." Koji's face fell. "But...when she wakes up, how would you like to feed her?"
The child gasped and nodded vigorously, his long hair whacking his face with each nod.
~Time Skip~
Koji heard a faint whine, followed by loud cries and soon high-pitched wailing. He scrambled up from his daydreaming spot by the window and hurtled accross the room to the single bed positioned in the corner. Bitna was awake! That meant he could help feed her, and he could really feel like a big brother.
His mother quickly picked up the infant and began soothing her, rocking side to side and singing quietly.
Nae bichnaneun byeol...(my shining star)
One who makes me whole...
Deo isang uljima...(cry no more)
I am here to hold you...
Koji closed his eyes and leaned into his mother's arm, careful not to squish the baby. She was singing his song, the song she wrote for him when she found out she was carrying him. It was their special song, and now, they could share it with the small bundle of life, his little sister, his whole world. He carefully took a jar of baby food from the counter, and unscrewed the lid. Dipping a plastic spoon into it, he looked at his mother for permission.
"Eomma?" He murmered, "am I doing it right?" She gazed at him and nodded.
"You're doing wonderfully aga(baby), go on!"
Gently, he slipped the spoon into her mouth, letting her eat the green mush. Slowly, a smile spread across his face, reaching wider than ever before.
Hello! So this is my first "book" I guess, if you'd call it that. I've had this scenario in my head for a long time now, and I guess I just wanted to put it out there because I want to see what people think of my weird brain. Many ARMYs would imagine themselves as the 8th member of BTS, but haha not me, I'd be a total screwup, so why not put an edgy kid with a tragic background in instead? Anyways, if anyone ever reads this, let me know what you think! I really like critisism because I like to try it out in my writing, tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
Be happy and have a nice day! (or night depending on where you are on the globe)
