ABIGAIL POV

I groan in pain as my eyes flicker open. I was looking up at a sunlit roof. A proper roof. Not a tent roof. I look around and I was in a white room. Where was I? I hoped it wasn't that Judeo-Christian Heaven everyone bragged about. There was an IV in my arm, attached to a bag of saline. I must have been in a hospital. I barely remembered anything after Marcus sedated me. I tried to sit up but whimpered as my head erupted in pain. I heard the door to my room open and looked over to the person who had come in. He was dressed in a white coat and had a stethoscope around his neck. He must've been the doctor who worked here.

"You're awake" he said and smiled. He walked over to me and took a seat beside me "How are you feeling?" he asks kindly

"I've been better" I whisper. My eyes flick to the door as I see movement from the corner of my eye. A man was leaning on the door frame. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans and was a very tall. The way he was looking at me was a little strange, like he knew me or something. Which he didn't. I'd never seen him in my life before.

"Do you mind if I do a quick examination. Afterwards you can go get some food or rest if you like" the doctor says to me in a thick English accent. I look away from the stranger in the door so my eyes are on the doctor. I reluctantly nod. I'd rather he didn't, but I guess I didn't really have a choice. He grabs his stethoscope from around his neck and places it against my beating heart. I wait for him to listen, wondering what it is he heard.

"Your heartbeat is still a little weak. Do you know what they gave you? My tests couldn't identify it" he says and frowns

"He used crushed rue. You probably know it as-"

"Witchbane" the doctor says, cutting me off, as his eyes widen. I nod.

"You're a witch?" the stranger asks, with an edge to his voice. I could tell it was shocking news to him from the way the energy in the room changed. I give a small nod and look at Mr. Stranger. He was standing with his arms crossed, clearly not happy. I still had no idea why he cared what I was. Or who he was. Or where I was! The doctor gives him a pointed look and moves to my wrists. They were still a little red and bruised from being chained up. He gently runs a finger over the bruised skin. I hiss slightly as he does. The doctor pulls his hand back and apologizes. He grabs a torch from his pocket and shines it in one of my eyes and then the other. When he's done, he walks over to one of the cabinets on the wall and grabs a tub of something out. He walks back over and hands it to me.

"This balm will help your wrists heal up nicely. But besides from that you just need rest" he says and smiles. I nod and grab the balm off him. The doctor nods to the stranger and takes his leave. He probably had more patients to take care of. I wish he didn't have to go and leave me all alone with this creepy guy.

He walks over to me and takes a seat beside me. I glance at him nervously before looking away again. I wasn't sure what to say. Or even if I should talk. I didn't know where I was. Or who this person was. For all I knew I could be kidnapped right now. God, I hoped I wasn't kidnapped.

"You must have a lot of questions" he says to me, looking at me with a range of emotions; neither I could decipher.

I nod "Where am I? And... who are you?" I ask, raising my eyes to meet his. Looking at him up closely was a little daunting. He was quite handsome. His eyes were icy blue. Like a frozen lake. And they complimented his dark hair. It was pitch black, like a raven's wings.

"My name is Tyler Montrose. And my pack and I saved you from the rouge camp you were in" he says and pauses, giving me a second to take it in. I tried to remember being saved, but it was a bit of a blur. After we heard the wolves howling Marcus sedated me and its all foggy after that. Wait... wolves howling. Were they

"I heard wolves howling... Was that you?" I ask

He nods "As for the where... You're currently in Blue Moon Pack. My pack"

"What do you want from me?" I ask, knowing it was the only reason I was still alive. I couldn't believe he would help me for nothing. No one was that kind.

His eyes widen in shock "You're mistaken. I don't want anything from you" he states

I shake my head "If you don't want anything then why help me?" I ask, my voice full of disbelief

He lets out a sigh "I helped you because it was the right thing to do... and... because you're my mate"

I look at him with shock. And confusion. And a range of other things to. It was impossible. I couldn't be his mate. Witches didn't have mates. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with this information. What it meant even.

I shake my head "It's not possible" I whisper

"You're telling me" he utters. He lets out a sigh and runs his hands through his thick hair in frustration. "I'm sorry. This isn't how I wanted things to go. You being a witch... caught me off guard" he says, his voice laced with frustration.

I take a deep breath "What does this mean? For me?" I ask seriously

"Well... I want you to stay here... where you'll be safe. And maybe... it will give us time to figure things out" he says. I nod, not really having any other choices. I didn't have a home to go back to, so it wasn't like I would be missed. My previous haunt was an abandoned shed which was barely big enough for me to stand up straight in. I suppose this would be a bit of an upgrade. But I wondered how the wolves would react to me being around. I doubted they knew much truth when it came to witches; we didn't exactly have the best reputation.

"I'll take you to your room so you can rest and get cleaned up" he says and stands. I stand and follow him as he starts walking out of the hospital room. We entered a hallway and turned right heading towards the main foyer. I almost gasped at how beautiful it was. The décor was classy and old, like something out of Gatsby. I could see that there were doors to more rooms in this giant house beyond the foyer, but that wasn't where the alpha was leading me. He lead me to the front door instead. I take in a breath of fresh air as he opens it, glad to feel the wind on my skin again. We passed a couple people as we made our way outside and down the front steps. They looked at me with curiosity, probably wondering who I was. The feeling was mutual. I made my way down a path, following Tyler as I did. The land this place was on was vibrant and beautiful. I could just feel how alive it was. Large oak trees seemed to border the houses and the entire pack, as if protectively.

Eventually we made our way to a house with a white picket fence. It was a yellow house with a dark grey roof. It wasn't particularly big, but it was bigger than I was used to. Tyler unlocks the door and walks in. I follow behind him, glancing at the pictures on the walls and the various furniture I could see. He leads me down a hallway where doors lined the wall. We stop at the first one on my left and enter together. There was a huge queen bed in the centre of the room, with bedside tables and everything. There was a little reading nook on the left wall, where there was also a wide window. I'd never had a room so big. Before I can be a dummy and jump on my bed the alpha turns to me and says:

"This is my house. I thought it would be best for you to stay here. I had a pack member provide you some new clothes. They should be in your cupboard. Feel free to ask for anything else you need though" he says

I nod "Thankyou... Alpha" I say, remembering to be polite.

His jaw tenses as I say this "You don't... need to call me Alpha. Tyler is fine"

I nod "Thankyou... Tyler" I say. A ghost of a smile plays on his lips before he leaves, closing my door on the way out.
