ABIGAILS POV

It had been a week since our big fight, and I had just woken up from a restless sleep. I felt so tired. I hadn't fallen asleep till one in the morning. I knew it must have been later than I usually got up by how warm the weather already was. I didn't mind sleeping in for once, especially since Tyler was probably out; doing alpha things. I needed him out of the way if I was going to run away. I had planned it all last night when I couldn't sleep. It had seemed like a great idea yesterday. But I couldn't help but have a couple doubts now that I had slept on it a bit. It hurt to think about leaving Tyler behind and never seeing him again. Would he even care if I left. I didn't know to be honest. And the fact that I couldn't even be sure if he cared about me or not meant leaving was for the best. I mean I'd only been here a week. Some would say I wasn't giving it a chance. But being here, all by myself, with no one but Alex and Tyler as company; it made me want to scream. I couldn't stay here. I'd rather be alone than bound to someone who couldn't stand what I was.

My plan was to leave later just before Tyler got home for dinner at nighttime. That way Alex would be a little off his guard and Tyler would be all tired from the day so he wouldn't be as sharp. I didn't think Alex would expect it from me as well, so hopefully that worked to my advantage. I get out of bed and get dressed for the day, making sure to wear something dark for later. Not many people came around Tyler's house so I shouldn't run into too many people. And even if I did, I hadn't met anyone else so they shouldn't know what I look like. After I finished putting on a pair of black jeans and a dark grey shirt I head into the loungeroom. Alex is at the kitchen island eating a piece of toast and looking at his phone. I walk over to the couch and slump down, preparing for another day of mindless boredom. At least it was the last day of this. And maybe I could hitchhike to California. The extra sun would do wonders for my pale skin.

"Hey, you want some breakfast. I can make eggs or something?" he asks from his seat

I peak over the couch at him "I'm not very hungry" I say and give a weak smile. I was too nervous too eat anything too heavy.

He frowns at me "You really should eat something. You don't want to get sick" he says with kindness in his eyes. I still felt horrible about what happened with Tyler and him. I couldn't help but feel responsible. I'd apologized over a hundred times by now, and I was feeling another apology coming on. Instead I just sigh.

"Fine... I'll have an apple" I say and get up off of the couch. I walk over to the kitchen island and grab a red apple from the fruit bowl. I crunch into it dramatically "Happy?" I ask and smirk. I take my apple back to the couch and switch the television on. Alex walked over and sat down on the couch next to the one I was. I imagine he didn't want to be almost killed again just for sitting too close to me. As much as I wanted to leave... I'd miss Alex. He was such a joyful person and he'd only ever been nice to me. But there wasn't another choice. I had to go. So, I bid my time watching reruns of Modern Family with him.

I actually enjoyed myself. He made funny remarks at the characters here and there and they cracked me up so much I couldn't stop laughing. At least this place wasn't a total hell.

. . .

When it hit six o-clock I knew it was time. I let out a yawn and stretch my arms. I had barely moved from the couch all day.

"Hey Alex... can we go for a quick walk? My legs are sleepy" I say in a cutesy tone, hoping he wouldn't say no. He smiles and nods. Thank the goddess. I stand up and stretch a little bit more and so does Alex. I follow him as he heads to the door. He opens it for me.

"Ladies first" he says

"Well thank you" I say and smirk as I exit. A pang of guilt hit me as I realized how much trouble Alex would be in. But I'm sure he would be fine. After getting chewed out by Tyler anyway. And I couldn't put his wellbeing over my own... not this time. Alex heads out of the house after me and locks the door. He leads me down a path into the woods which bordered the pack. It was just close enough that you could see houses but far enough that you could reach out and touch an oak tree if you wanted. I'd already been down this path a couple times. Walking was about the only other thing I was allowed to do other than stay in and watch tv. It was nice to stretch my legs and the night was beautiful. The sun had set a while ago, but the moon illuminated the night. There were also some lights visible from houses in the distance. Probably other pack members who lived here. I wished I could have met some of them at least.

"Where are you from anyway?" Alex asks curiously, trying to make small talk

I look over to him as he walked ahead of me slightly "All over" I say

"Ah, a bit of a drifter huh?" he asks and laughs

I laugh back "Yeah a bit" I say, and we continue walking in silence. After we hit the end of the path, which took about ten more minutes, we stop. Now was the bit where we were supposed to turn back and go home. That was what we did all the other times we came down this path. But not tonight.

Alex turned to me "Time to head back" he says and looks at me as he turns around and starts making his way to the house. I didn't move an inch though and Alex stopped in response.

"Something wrong?" he asks, clearly confused

"I can't go back Alex" I whisper

"What do you mean?"

I shake my head, knowing what I had to do next "I'm really, really sorry about this... But I can't have you telling Tyler about this" I say and raise my hands out in front of me with my palms facing outward "Nunc Somnumn" I whisper, and Alex falls to the ground into a deep slumber. He would be okay. It would only last an hour or so. I turn left take of running into the woods, away from the houses and into the forest. I had to go before anyone realized I was gone. Hopefully Tyler wouldn't notice for a while. My legs sped forward as I focused on getting away. The wind brushed over my whole body as the moonlight lit my way. I ran and ran until I couldn't anymore and slowed into a walk. I had underestimated how big this forest was. And to make things better I didn't really recognize anything. I didn't think I had passed the pack boundary yet, but I couldn't be sure. The plan was to get far enough away that Tyler wouldn't find me. Then I could use a locater spell to find a nearby town or city. I kept walking for another few minutes when I'm tackled to the ground out of nowhere. I let out a cry of pain as my back hits the rough forest floor. I struggle against the attacker as much as I could but whoever was on me was too strong. As I think I'm about to die, I hear a voice.

"What the hell are you doing out here alone. I could have killed you" he says in surprise. I look up at him and realize I knew his face. I'd seen him coming to the door to get Tyler the other day. Crap. He gets off of me and helps me up from the ground.

"I was just... walking" I say, hoping he would believe me. I couldn't let him take me back. I couldn't imagine how angry Tyler would be if he caught me trying to leave. I saw what he did to Alex for just touching me. Would I meet the same fate? Or something worse?

He grabs my arm tightly "Bullshit. You really think you were going to run away? The forest goes on for miles" he says. I raise my hands to cast a spell, but he growls which instinctively makes me lower them.

"Go ahead try it. You'll be unconscious before you can say abracadabra." he says and starts walking. He pulls me along with him as he heads back to the pack. I struggle against his grip, but he was stronger than I was.

"Let me go. Please" I beg

"Sorry. Can't do. Besides I just told Tyler and he shouldn't be far away" he says and continues dragging me along, rather roughly.

"I'll turn you into a pig for this" I say angrily

All of a sudden he stops and stiffens "Shut up" he says

"You shut up" I retort

He puts his hand up to my mouth "I mean it" he whispers as he looks around the trees nervously.

He sniffs the air and lets out a growl "Rouges"
