TYLERS POV
I was just about to head back to the house. I'd basically finished all my paperwork and was ready to eat something after the long day. And after having a discussion with my beta I'd decided it was probably time to have a talk with Abigail. It scared me to think about, but I knew it was necessary. After the way I'd treated her, I just hoped she would forgive me for all my bad decisions. I didn't deserve her after all this. I wouldn't blame her if she hated me forever. I was walking out the door of the pack house when I felt someone mind linking me. I sigh.
"What?" I ask in annoyance
"It's Abigail. She knocked me out and she's heading for the border" Alex says. I stop mid step at his words. I couldn't believe what he was saying. She was trying to leave. I felt a sharp ache in my heart at his words. I couldn't imagine being away from here. I didn't event want to think about her leaving. But I couldn't be angry. It was my own fault. I'd driven her away.
"I'm on my way" I say and rush down the steps of the pack house. I shift into my wolf, shredding through my clothes, and take off running towards the border. It wasn't safe for her out there. Anything could happen. I pump my legs back and forth as I try and run as fast as I can. I couldn't believe she'd run that far all by herself. My land wasn't exactly small.
"Rouges!" River yells in my mind. I let out a loud growl as I push myself to go even faster.
ABIGAILS POV
River lets out a growl and says "Rouges"
"Where?" I ask and look around, unable to see anything. I tried to look into the woods but my eyesight was only so good, and a group of clouds had started to obscure the moon, making everything a bit dimmer than before.
He looks at me with wild eyes and places his hands on the side of my arms "Get out of here. Run back to the pack okay! I'll hold them off" he says and pushes me forward urging me to run away. I shake my head bout to protest. I wasn't going to just leave him to die. It was then that I heard a splintering growl. I looked behind me and saw multiple pair of red eyes peeking out from the darkness. I let out a scream as a rouge tackles River to the ground, knocking me over in the process. The sound of ripping fills the air as River shifts. I get up off of the ground and back away from the wolves as they start to fight. River lunges at the wolf on top of him and they begin to fight each other tooth and claw. I let out a cry of fear as the two giant wolves fought. I'd never seen something so savage and violent. River seemed to be doing well as he ripped at the rouges shoulder and legs doing a bit of damage each time. However, the rouge saw an opening on Rivers belly and clawed at it, earning him the upper hand. I saw another red-eyed wolf stalking towards me from the darkness. I had to do something, or he would kill me.
I hold my hands out facing up to the moon and take a deep breath "Spirits of the earth I summon you. Spiritum telluris et vocavi te" I say powerfully. My blood started to hum as my magic awakened within me. It felt like fire as the magic flowed through my whole body and into my hands. I kept chanting the same words over and over until I could feel the earth shaking and shuddering in response. There was a loud cracking sound as roots from the ground start to reach up from the depths of the earth. Wooden tendrils wrap around the rouge on River and pull him off roughly. I could feel the roots in my mind, like they were a part of me. I focus on what I wanted them to do, manifesting my will as I kept chanting the words. The roots wrapped around him securing him to the ground and making sure he couldn't break free. I felt myself beginning to falter slightly. I didn't think I would be able to keep this up much longer. I focus on the other wolf now, sending the roots after him. I feel liquid drip from my nose as the roots sprout from underneath him. Before they can wrap around him he jumps out of the way and growls at me. He charges me and knocks me to the ground. I hit my head hard as he lands on top of me.
TYLERS POV
I let out a savage roar as I see the rouge charge Abigail and land on top of her. Before he even notices me I lunge at him and push him off of her. My wolf takes full control from me and he savagely rips the rouges throat out for hurting his mate. He turns his attention to the other rouge. He was held against the ground by roots and vines, whimpering in pain. My wolf felt a sense of pride when he sees what Abigail did with her magic. She should have killed the bastard.
"Alpha..." River says as he gets up from the ground
"Get Brett to help you take this piece of shit to the dungeons" I say. River nods and stands guard over the rouge while he waits for Brett. I dig my claws into the ground as I start to shift back to human. I walk over to a nearby tree and grab a pair of cargo shorts from a hidey hole in the bottom of the stump. We had them all over in case we needed to shift back and forth from human. I put them on and walk back over to Abigail. I cup her cheek and check if she was okay. She had blood dripping from her nose, and I think she'd hit her head when she fell. Her skin ignited sparks on my hand which made my wolf purr. She groaned as she started to come back to consciousness. She opens her eyes groggily.
"I'm gonna pick you up okay" I say to her. She gives a nod. I gently place my arms under legs and around her back and pick her up bridal style.
"Finally..." my wolf whispers, as he gets to hold her for the first time ever. She leans her head against my chest as I start walking back to the pack.
