The phone rang once, twice, then a third time.
"Lili?" a panting voice answered on the other line.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt, uh, whatever you were doing," Lisa trailed off, hearing the heavy breathing in Rosé's voice.
"No, you're fine. I just left my phone in my room and I had to run to get it when I heard it ringing," Rosé explained. "I wasn't really expecting to hear from anyone. Especially you."
"Well, sorry about that I guess?" Lisa answered, unsure of how to respond to that.
"Don't be silly," the older girl chuckled softly. "I'm glad you called. You don't know how much I've missed you. I've been wanting to call, but I didn't know if you would want to talk."
Lisa took a deep breath before responding. "I know I've been apologizing since you answered, but I do want to say I'm sorry for leaving so suddenly last night. I should have talked to you about it instead of running off."
"Well, do you want to talk about it, then?" Rosé asked, nervous about what Lisa would say to her if she did agree to talk about it now. "I think I have some explaining to do, myself."
"How about you take me out tomorrow night to make it up to me and we can talk about it then," Lisa chuckled into the phone.
"Deal," Rosé replied eagerly. "Anywhere specific you want to go?"
"Surprise me," Lisa returned. She didn't care where they went, as long as she got to spend time with Rosé and they were able to talk through things.
"I'll try my best," Rosé answered, instantly trying to think of the best place she could take the younger girl. "And Lisa?"
"Yeah?"
"I really meant it when I said I missed you," Rosé confessed. "Even though it's only been a day, I hated not texting or calling you whenever I felt like it."
"I missed you, too, Rosé," Lisa admitted with a small smile on her face. "More than I'd like to admit."
Rosé felt herself blushing and smiled for the first time in almost twenty-four hours. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay, Lili?"
"I'll see you tomorrow," Lisa agreed before hanging up the phone. She fell back into her bed, feeling much better after just hearing Rosé's voice. She was anxious for tomorrow night, wondering where they would go and how their talk would turn out. But the older girl had a hold on her heart, that much she knew for sure.
----------
Rosé stood at the front door, literally shaking in her combat boots. She had just rung the doorbell and could hear footsteps inside the house. She shouldn't be so nervous to see Lisa, but after the younger girl walked out on her two nights ago, she wasn't sure what to expect.
The door opened and the Thai stood in front of Rosé, just as beautiful as ever.
"Hi, Rosé," Lisa said with a small smile.
"Hi, Lisa," Rosé returned, stopping herself from eyeing the younger girl up and down. She could see the long legs in her peripheral vision, but knew that it was neither the time nor the place to gawk. Lisa of course had to wear a short skirt the one time Rosé knew she shouldn't be inappropriate.
Lisa stepped onto the front porch and closed the door behind her. They could both feel the awkwardness in the air, but neither of them knew what to say.
"You ready to go, then?" Rosé finally asked after looking at everything except Lisa.
"Yeah," Lisa nodded softly. She usually would have taken Rosé's hand, but after the other night, she wasn't sure if it would be weird.
