"Do you understand what you've done wrong?" Miss asked me, peering up at me with a look of disapproval.I rocked back and forth, avoiding her gaze. I was angry, mostly because she had ripped me away from the boy I haven't seen in over a month. "Yes."
No.
"You've violated the rules. Running out of this premises is completely unacceptable, especially for a cause as ridiculous as that one." She reprimanded, huffing. "Now, because you're new, I am not going to give you a yellow card-"
Oh darn, I thought sarcastically.
"But I will let you off with a warning." There was a pause. "Lindsey, look at me when I'm speaking to you."
I met her gaze.
"Do you realize the consequences of becoming removed from this house by force?" Miss asked, blinking.
I shook my head.
"Because you are temporarily in the custody of myself, your removal can result in..well.." She trailed off. "You can be put back into the program."
My eyes widened. "Oh."
"You already have a yellow card. Don't make me give you another. You're dismissed."
I bit my lip, spinning around and retreating to the kitchen. I still had more chores. I sighed, lifting up a bag of garbage and hobbling out the side door to the garbage bins outback.
I dropped the back on the ground with a grunt.
Low chuckling erupted from behind me and I whipped around. Caleb leaned against the wall, covering his mouth.
"You know," he stood from his leaned position, "That was ballsy."
"Yeah, well let's just say I didn't get off easy."
"Oo." He winced. "Yellow card?"
"Nah, just a warning," I sighed, crossing my arms and glancing at my surroundings, "but an insane lecture."
"That is one of her strong points." Caleb agreed. "Don't worry-I get those at least once a week. She's usually all talk and no action. You've got nothing to worry about. Just stay out of trouble."
"Will do." I nodded.
"So," he stepped closer, "Who was that guy?"
"My boyfriend."
"Hm. So he lives in Chicago?" Caleb asked, still not breaking his intensifying gaze.
"New York."
"Ah. Interesting." He replied, tossing his head.
"Why is everything interesting?" I asked with a growing grin.
"The world is interesting." He simply stated, and went in through the side door.

I smiled when I saw Alex. "You're actually someone I'm excited to see."
He grimaced, throwing an arm around my shoulders as we walked. "Is the house that bad?"
"More than you can imagine. She took away my phone." I sighed, looking at the ground.
"Well, at least you'll be out of there soon."
I closed my eyes for a second. "Let's hope so-"
"Hey, watch your going." A voice snapped.
I reopened my eyes, only to set my gaze upon my 'shadow buddy.'°
