He heaved a deep breath as he waited for the older man to finish his words- listening to his every word attentively. Even though he feels like this negotiation will end well, according to what he desired, he's still nervous.
"... After all of this, now, tell me. Why should I trust you with my company?" The man said with a serious voice. But if Han heard the older man's tone right, there's a hint of happiness in it. Perhaps, the older man was just testing him and his intelligence.
"Like what I've said a few minutes before, it is not just we're currently on top in this industry but also, we've been in here for a very long time. We know the ways in this business in ways you couldn't imagine."
The older man chuckled at him, in disbelief of what he just heard. "I am not asking whether your company has been built for decades or not. I am asking why should I trust you with my company? Why should I be partners with you?"
And those questions put Han into a hot seat. He feels like everyone in the room were looking at him with their keen eyes, watching him attentively, waiting for his next actions and waiting for the next words that will come out from his mouth— even his father Park Jisung who chose to watch him in silence as he sat in a swivel chair.
Jisung looked more mature. He grew more handsome as he got older. You wouldn't even think that he has a 23-year-old son. You wouldn't think that he's already 53 years old. He still looks like in his late 30s or early 40s. Women still turn their heads when he walks past them— whether it's women around his age or women as young as his only son.
Han grew nervous. His hands were sweating and his heart beat faster as he felt everyone's stare around him.
The questions struck him. Why would they trust him? He's neither his Aunt Jikyung or his great father Jisung or his father Chenle who all managed to lead an empire of companies successfully.
Han barely managed to handle a company when he graduated college. And now, handling two companies had burden him more. His two fathers surely left him difficult things to handle. A burden to carry on. A legacy to continue. And lastly... A ton of expectations to meet that he should not fail— especially his parents'.
"Don't you say that because your grandfather and your father managed to run this company successfully means that I will trust my company in your hands," the older man added in a tone that displeased Han. He does not like where this conversation would go. It humiliates him.
No. Han does not fear humiliation. But what fears him was his Dada watching him.
Again, no. Jisung wasn't the type of father that would disown a child or would treat him coldly just because he did not meet his expectations... It's more of a, Han fears that he will disappoint him.
Never in his life that he did disappoint his parents. Never.
"Because you are different from your grandfather and father. Just because your father had led this company successfully does not mean that you could do that to... You are not Park Jisung, Mr. Park Han."
As the older man continued, the burden in Han's back got heavier and the nervousness from his chest got tighter.
He is not his father.
He will never be his father.
Is it impossible for him to be as great as his father Jisung in this industry? Or will he just stay as the son of the great business tycoon? Can he lead a conglomerate business empires just like his fathers Jisung and Chenle? Or will he just stay in their shadows?
