Chapter 4

"And then he said I should ask Soobin?" Yeonjun exclaimed to Beomgyu, who was painting his nails a soft pink colour, occasionally humming to show that he was still listening to Yeonjun, or at least pretending to be listening.

"Then why don't you just ask him?" Beomgyu asked, "If you're so curious."

"I can't just ask! It's Soobin!" Yeonjun sounded offended, Beomgyu didn't seem to care, "What if I hear something that I don't like. What if he says something bad? Gyu, I don't know if I could take it if he-."

"Okay, Yeonjun hyung, listen," Beomgyu said, looking up from his freshly painted nails to look at his friend, "First of all, Kai already said that Soobin wasn't homophobic. I know that doesn't mean he won't be transphobic, but the chances are lower. Besides, it's Soobin. I've heard only good things about him."

"I guess that's true," Yeonjun replied reluctantly.

They couldn't help but be worried about Soobin's reaction to who they were. It was strange because Yeonjun was typically confident about who they were; they wore what they wanted and did what they wanted, uncaring of what those around them thought. They didn't know why Soobin was any different, but they had a feeling that it was because they felt differently about Soobin than they did everyone else.

Soobin was cute. What could they say?

Maybe they had stalked Soobin on Instagram after asking Kai for the younger's account. Maybe they had stayed up all night looking at the male's pictures with wide eyes, cooing at the male's cuteness and gaping when they saw a particularly attractive picture of him.

But that wasn't something anyone had to know. Other than Beomgyu, of course, because they had told Beomgyu the day after it had happened, raving about the male to their best friend.

"Of course it's true, I'm always right," Beomgyu teased, and Yeonjun hit him with a pillow.

Beomgyu raised his unpainted hand to block the strike. Yeonjun laughed, and so did Beomgyu, and a light, calm silence fell over the two of them.

When Beomgyu finished painting his nails, he started on Yeonjun's. They had chosen a different colour from their friend, going for a blue rather than the pink that Beomgyu had chosen, because Soobin's hair colour was blue.

Okay, maybe Yeonjun had to admit it. They had a crush on Soobin.

"Hey Gyu," They said, and their friend blew softly on their nails before moving on to the next hand, "What would you say if I told you that I had a crush on Soobin?"

"I would say no shit," Beomgyu replied easily, "Please, you're so obvious it physically pains me."

Yeonjun frowned, "Rude."

"But noona, you really should speak to him," Beomgyu said finally, "I know you might be scared but isn't it better to know than to wonder. If he's rude about it, you can get over him and move on to someone better, and if not, then I guess your feelings for him will probably deepen, and I'll have to deal with you annoying me about him all the time."
