~Prologue~

The room was dark and cold. The white flakes that fell from the sky kept the well-decorated room chilly. However, it wouldn’t be so cold if the window was not opened. But the chill did nothing to the two men who occupied the room. The two men were talking about how to go about their plan next, but kept coming up blank. It wasn’t until the final member of their trio bust into the room with his typical goofy grin plastered on his face.

“Alright boys, what’s the plan,” he asks as he flicked on the lights and flops down in the overly large and plushy hotel chair. “Did you guys find her yet?” By the facial expressions on his companions face’s, that was a no.

The older one with the biggest build, short dark brown hair, and stormy grey eyes, looked at him with heated anger and annoyance while the other man, who had an athletic build, spiky black hair, and equally black eyes, shook his head in disapproval. “Not now, Logan,” the slimmer one said.

“Come on, Max, lighten up,” the blond said.

The bulkier man’s face turned from angry to all out furious. The mood in the room turned as dark as the man’s room, making the blond shrink into his chair. Even the lights seemed to dim the angrier he got. The muscular man use to be all smiles, but over the past hundred years or so his temper had started getting the better of him. “Lighten up?”

Maxwell placed a hand on his old friend’s shoulder. “Alec-”

“Lighten up!? We have one more chance at this, Logan. There is not time to lighten up.”

Maxwell ‘s grip tightened as Alec tried to walk closer to the blond, but the dark haired man kept his friend in place. “Calm down, Alec. You know he didn’t mean anything by it.”

Alec pulled out of Maxwell’s grip as he turned to look at him. Stormy eyes clashed with midnight ones, neither willing to back down. “We don’t have time for his jokes, Maxwell. This is our last chance and we have to-”

The two men waited for the rest of Alec’s anger fueled lecture, but it never came. Instead, the man’s face went blank, his eyes distant as he unknowingly reached up to his chest and grabbed the silver ring that dangled from a long black metal chain.

“What is it, Alec,” Maxwell asked as his once macho demeanor also relaxed. “Have you found her?”

Alec fiddled with the delicate ring in his hand for a few moments before a smile graced his elegant lips. “She’s calling for me,” he said with a chuckle as his smile continued to grow. “She’s calling for me.” Alec’s stormy eyes almost produced rain drops of their own as hope once again began to fill him up.

“Where is she,” Logan asked as he bounced up from his seat. Now that Alec was in a good mood, he had no reason to be afraid and reverted back to his typical funny guy self. “Someplace nice, I hope.”

Alec turned to his friends and smiled. “She’s close…very close…somewhere south.” Alec dashed over to the closet and started throwing all of his clothes on the bed. Maxwell and Logan, who both grinned at their friend’s good mood, started for the door to do the same. As the three finished backing and went to check out of their hotel, all of them mentally prepared for what was to come.

They were on their way to find Alec’s most valued treasure, to find his one reason for living. But they were also preparing for the harder part of their search. Now that the call had been sent, Alec was not the only one to answer it. They would be looking for her too and they would be more ruthless than they have been in the past, but that didn’t stop them. They were on a mission and nothing could keep them from it.
