~Chapter 2: Strange Coincidence~

“I can’t believe your got out of the car, Lita,” an extremely annoyed voice said from the other line of the phone. “He could’ve been a creep or something.”

“He seemed nice enough,” Lalita replied as she gathered a few work papers and the customized coffee mug Dean bought her two years ago.

“Oh, please. After what happened, you and I both silently judge people. He must have been really hot for you to get out of the car.” Lalita didn’t say anything, only smiled to herself, as she stepped out of her car. The car beeped as she pushed the lock button and headed inside the large building before her. “I’ll take your silence as a yes.”

“Kaitlin, you know I normally don’t swoon over guys, but he was…just…uh. He was beautiful.”

“Well, no matter how gorgeous he was, you shouldn’t have gotten out of the car.”

Lalita walked into the brightly lit and decorated waiting room of the five-story building, not including the basement. Her aunt and uncle had bought the place nearly twelve years ago to house their wedding business. Each floor was dedicated to a specific section of the wedding. The basement was where the kitchen and bakery was. Every day thousands of plates of food came pouring out of there. Most of the employees at Elegant Weddings eat lunch in the basement with the cooks. There is always something left over and since it’s so good, no body bothered to eat anywhere else.

The first floor is where the decorations were. Center pieces, lanterns, candles, flowers, and everything a bride and groom could dream of was found here. And if, by chance, what they weren’t there, then it would be shipped in just for the clients.

The second floor was Lalita’s floor. This floor was full of photographers. With her promotion, Lalita was in charge of the whole floor. All eleven photographers were to report to her for conformations, questions, requests, approvals, etc. And the equipment room was phenomenal. There were more cameras, lenses, and flashes than there were photographers and the editing equipment was always the latest the business had to offer.

The third floor was home to all of the bride’s maid’s dresses and accessories and the one above that was all for the brides and grooms. There was every type of color, design, and maker imaginable on those two floors. Lalita often wondered how anyone could find their way through there, but someone how people managed to do it.

The final floor was strictly for staff. It was where Wendy and Jackson Eveers, Lalita’s aunt and uncle, have their offices along with the accountants. Each floor has its own secretary to help the employees and the constant flow of customers. All and all, the Eveers’ made a nice living off of their business and was eager to share it with their oldest niece.

Lalita smiled the secretary on the first floor as she walked into the building. Kaitlin was still nagging her ear off about the unknown man and Lalita kept pretending that she was still paying attention. “I’m getting in the elevator, so I might lose you,” she said as she pushed the up button and the shiny silver doors in front of her parted silently.

“Alright, just no more trusting strangers.”

Lalita stepped into the elevator and sighed. “Whatever you say. Later,” and with that, she hung up. Her finger hit the end button before she slid it into her coat pocket.
