— Eda!
Yiğit tries to call her back to reality, but she was too angry to listen.
— EDA, ENOUGH!
She hears another voice calling her, this time tougher and angrier, but her mind is clouded by the rage she feels for the handcuffed man in front of her. She's punching, beating, until she feels somebody grabbing her by the waist and pulling her away. She's still in the heat of the moment, trying to free herself from the strong hands holding her, to catch up to that evil man that was being taken to jail. The evil man that almost killed her brother. She is dragged to a room, which she perceives to be an office, and hears the door closing before he yells:
— Have you lost your mind?
— Let go of me! – she yells back, trying to free herself from his grip.
— Are you crazy? What the hell did you think you were doing?
She simply huffs at him.
— You cannot behave like that inside the police station – he says loud, then huffs – and that's a person for God's sake! You were killing him!
— They can be merciless towards anyone but policemen will be gentle to them regardless? – her tone shows outrage – This filthy, criminal institution-
— Bak efendim, I advise you to watch your mouth and your tone! I can arrest you for disrespecting an authority!
— Tamam, tamam... ablacim... nefes almak! – Yiğit, who she just realized was also inside, walked to her and caressed her back. That always calmed her down. He quickly mouthed a shy "sorry" to the detective now sitting on his desk, who just nods and winks at the boy mouthing a "it's fine".
— Calmer? – Yiğit turns to see his sister's face and she nods.
— What's gonna happen to him? – she frees from his touch and start walking around the room – The man.
— He's going to jail. – the detective simply says.
— Is he staying there?
— Probably.
— Probably? – she gives a sarcastic laugh – He should rot in jail!
— If this was up to me I would make sure of that – he says, his tone showing a little bit of annoyance.
— Then make sure of it! – she walks to his desk, her semblance carrying a deadly stare – Or let me kill him myself!
— Miss Yildiz... – his tone is of warning.
— NE? Tell me, detective! If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you wanna kill him? – she raises her tone even more.
He is flooded with rage. Although she didn't know it, she hit him hard in the wound with this question. The answer was clear: he would, he would do worse than she ever thought of doing. He was planning to do worse. But no one could ever know.
— This people mark faces, if you piss them off and they get out of jail they'll go after you!
She perceived he was angry cause his neck vein popped, and she felt like he was actually right this time. But she still didn't wanna give in, so she put her fearless mask on and said:
— I don't care! Let them come! – she glances at him and turns back, sighing – At least I'll have the opportunity you deprived me of!
— Abla... we just don't want you in danger! What happened today is more than enough proof of how dangerous they are!
— We're far from not being in danger, Yiğit! They know our parents, you were there, you heard them! – she starts walking around the room, thoughtful – They always knew, probably even before all this.
Eda runs her hands through her face, feeling the weight of tiredness manifesting in her body. The detective is watching them attentively, they hadn't told him this part. He was about to question her affirmation but she started talking again.
— So it doesn't matter what I did or not, we've never been strangers to them! –  she raises her tone, looking at her brother – So I'll keep doing what I am doing!
Yiğit could see inside her eyes all the fury she has bottled up, and he knows he cannot hold her. He huffs, the boy was tired of trying to put some sense into his sister's brain, his older sister who was supposed to know better. He glances at the detective, in hopes he would be the one to bring back from this insanity.
— Listen, ma'am – Serkan gets up and slowly walks to her – I'll arrest you if necessary, lock you up in a cell, but I'll not let you put yourself at risk again!
Although his tone seemed calm, she could hear the intimidating threat and knew he was very serious. But something about his audacity and confidence in telling her... no, actually forcing her to step away from this situation outraged her. Who was he? She never saw him before, he's a stranger, he doesn't know her story or her loss, or how it feels like to be in her shoes. She mentally curses Yiğit for bringing this man into their lives. That was their personal issues, he shouldn't have brought the fucking police to the picture. The outrage and anger seemed to be transparent in her sarcastic look, as she ended the remaining distance between her and the detective.
— Then please sir, do lock me up! – she looked inside his eyes, and then pointed both her wrists to him – You were not supposed to get in the middle of this, but since you are you will not be giving me orders.
— Bold of you to be telling all that while standing in a police station.
She felt the provocative tone, he was playing with her. Hell, she hated cops. Zeki was right. They're arrogant people with God complexes, won't do their job and will still try to act morally correct to the people.
— Unfortunately I am here because of my brother, we will cooperate with what is needed and then we'll be dismissed... – she gives a forced smile – And that's where your authority ends, sir.
— And that is where you're wrong, ma'am. From what you said here, you let it explicitly said you will continue in engaging in unlawful activities and pursuing a threat that can endanger you and many others around you. I think I can arrest you and your little hacker friend for much less, don't you agree?
His smug face was annoying her and she hated that he was right. She should've held her tongue, but she always spoke too much when she was angry.
— Then what are you waiting for? – she raises her tone, not being able to contain her anger – Arrest me! Hadi!
Yiğit tries to put his sister's wrists down before the detective actually decided to arrest her. And he didn't know how the man hadn't done it yet.
— Eda, yeter! You're just being childish! – Yiğit explodes – Don't you get it? We just want you to stay alive! Is your anger stronger than the love you have for your family?
— It is exactly the love for my family that is making me do this, Yiğit!
— Yok, it's not, Eda! It's this sick plan you have on your mind to get revenge! – his voice is desperate, in a tired attempt of talking her out of her vengeance – It's beyond our grasp, Eda! We can't compete with them! Please let us mourn our parents at peace!
— I AM MOURNING, YİĞİT! THIS IS ME MOURNING! You expect me to just let it go? After all we've found out?
She was in disbelief, it was like reviving everything again. Not after all she's found, she can't let this go. She feels the tears start rolling down her face
— I can't... – she whispers to the silent room – AND I WON'T! I WILL NOT BREAK THE PROMISE I MADE. I vowed on their grave, Yiğit!
— You're gonna get yourself killed, Eda!
— And you'll get your brother in danger too... – the detective said, lower.
— I'll keep him safe, he was talking about leaving the country...
Yiğit could not believe what he was listening.
— Abla! Do you hear yourself? You're gonna separate from your only family left?
Eda had lost her mind, consumed by this vengeance. This madness of a vengeance. She couldn't win this battle, she couldn't avenge their parents, it didn't take much to realize that. It was a lost battle. But in her mind, the more she thought about it, the more made sense. The more she felt determined.
— You'll be safe, what else do you want Yiğit?
— AND WHAT ABOUT YOU? WHAT ABOUT ME, EDA?
— I'll be okay... – she felt her heart shrink seeing her brother cry.
— You will, but me? I won't be okay, Eda.
She walks closer, cupping his face with both her hands. Her little brother. She loved him so much, she knew he deserved to know why he's become orphan so soon. He had this tough facade of being strong and have accepted life's turn, but she couldn't be fooled. She heard his anger attack when he punched his pillows, yelled to the walls and took his anger off on any object at his room. He thought she was at university that time, but she had come home early for being dismissed. The principal knew she wasn't in the right headspace to go to classes, so she went home to find that. Of course, she never let him know, she silently left the apartment and took a walk on the neighborhood until she felt it was right to go back home.
— I need to know why they took mom and dad from us, Yiğit. It's eating me alive! – her voice choked by tears – And I know it's eating you alive too...
She whispers the last part, nodding as a comforting reassurance that everything would be alright for them. Her eyes were covered in tears that went down her cheeks like a waterfall, but she still managed to smile. But he didn't smile back. He simply walked to the door and left.
— I need some air...
She tried to call his name but her voice didn't come out. Instead, she covered her face with both her hands and let her body fall to the nearest seat.
