jungkook kept his head down as he walked, mask on. it's what he had to do, living his life and all.

he had his earphones in, blasting some form of indie rock that he couldn't quite put his finger on. it must've been an autoplay on spotify.

things were good. he felt okay, he had a small spring in his step due to the upbeat rock playing in his ears. brunette hair flowed through the small breeze accompanying the clouds in the sky. picturesque buildings surrounded him on the way to the store, all in different sizes and shapes.

jungkook appreciated that the small place in south korea the boys decided to live in wasn't overly populated, therefore he had less of a chance of being recognised. it still happened, yet people stayed polite and gave the boys their space. usually either a wave or a quick 'hello', if they weren't busy.

it was nice to ignore the publicity they had sometimes, and live their lives as normal people.

he entered the store, grabbing a basket before cascading down the aisles to grab anything he was told to. mostly simple things, such as ramen, some eggs, milk, the basics.

a new song began to play in his ears, making his brows furrow slightly as he couldn't understand the english lyrics. he opened his phone, reading 'rise above this' by seether. he could recognise certain words, yet the tune of the song made him feel content.

jungkook hummed the repetitive melody at the chorus as he headed for the cashiers once he had picked up what he had needed. he pulled out one earbud, engaging in small conversation with the cashier.

he looked behind the cashier at the rows of alcohol and cigarettes, a faint memory coming to him from the night before coming to his head.

"could i get a pack of cigarettes too, please?"

"which brand?" the cashier asked, sounding pretty dull.

shit, which did he smoke?

"uh... mal- marl-"

"marlboro?"

jungkook nodded quickly. "yes, those please."

"which ones?"

oh for fuck's sake.

"uh... which do you have?"

the cashier had a look through the drawer. "gold and red."

gold sound nice. wait, there's gold ones? is there actual gold in cigarettes? woah.

like what karat? i'm so confused-

"uh, gold. please."

the woman behind the counter nodded and picked a packet, ringing up the choice of items. "for your girlfriend?"

"huh?" jungkook's brows rose a little.

"the cigarettes." she looked at the young man before scanning the eggs.

"something like that, yeah." he nodded slightly, placing the items into a plastic bag.

once jungkook had paid, he left the store and began his trip home. it wasn't too long of a walk, enough for a few songs and for him to enjoy. he liked to be on his own, usually, but nowadays he'd usually do his errands with a certain red-head with him.

they'd walk together, not too close together yet not too far apart. sometimes sharing an earphone, most of the time not and talking about anything they felt like. usually plans for the rest of the day, or week.

jungkook liked to spend his time with taehyung, even outside of the house, acting as though they were simply friends. however since the mishap the other month, he was more careful about how the two acted.
