IT WAS DELILAH'S FRIEND'S PARTY that following Sunday, Nate and her were hanging out in her room.

"Hey baby, did you hear about Kapoor's party?" Delilah asked, trying to make conversation, she hated that awkward silence when having a conversation. The poor girl was already awkward as it is, in result she couldn't stand that uncomfortable silence.

"Yeah, you're going right?"

"Yeah" she answered. "Do you want to see my dress?" she asked excitedly. The dress was a beautiful two piece Kapoor, her friend gave to her especially. Adorned with white lace on the edges of the beautiful baby blue silk material.

"Yeah sure, love"

When Delilah stepped out of the bathroom clad in the famous two piece dress, she didn't get the reaction she was expecting. The young girl anticipated her boyfriend to compliment her in some sort of way but she was met with Nate glaring at her, more specifically glaring at her abdomen which was on full display.

"You are not wearing that" he said in all seriousness.

She pouted in response "But why? Kapoor chose it for me, it's a traditional dress, isn't beautiful?"she said while twirling around like a princess. Delilah felt like one.

Nate sighed while rubbing his forehead. "It's not that you look bad in it, because you look really good" he reassured.

"But..?" she said waiting to hear the rest.

"I just don't want other people seeing what's mine. Especially because I'm not going to be there with you. I'm just looking out for you, love" he softly explained himself.

"I'm sorry Nate, but I don't get it. You're acting as if I'm going topless, a little bit of skin never hurt nobody" she said lightly while trying to lift a little bit of the tension they've created.

"Yeah, it does, it hurts me" Nate said genuinely upset. What was once beatiful hazel eyes staring into her green one's, turned into almost to dark brown. A swirl of anger and emotions in them, tainting her inocent lover's eyes.

Usually Nate wouldn't really show emotions that much. It wasn't like he was portraying a poker face all the time, he just wasn't one for showing strong emotions or having outbursts. He was known for being always in control of his feelings, and that's one thing Delilah truly admired about him, his ability to keep his emotions in check, on the opposite of her who was sensitive and showed it.

Delilah blames this "ability" of Nate's on the fact that he grew up with a military father, her mother died when giving birth to him. He grew up in a "tough love household". He's been taught how he should always be calm and collected. So the fact that he seems genuinely upset about the dress situation really concerned his girlfriend.

"I'm not following..." Delilah said, confused out her mind. She never had a father that nagged her with "you are not stepping out of the house like that young lady". Her mother could honestly care less about what she wore. In the end, she just couldn't wrap her head around what was supposedly wrong with her attire. She felt good in it and she was sure that her friend would never give her a horrid dress. For heaven's sake, she was going to a traditional birthday party. Kapoor's parents and family would be there. It was clearly obvious that Kapoor wouldn't give her a skimpy dress to parade around with her grandparents and aunts present.

"I mean, who do you even want to look good for? I already told you I'm not going, Delilah ."

"Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I just want to look good for myself?" she asked angrily, this new sudden urge of confidence coming out of nowhere.

"Do you really?" He retorted angrily.

"Yes, I do, baby" she said softly, the confidence she had from before vanished. She hoped that the term of endearment would help the situation. Delilah couldn't stand when someone was mad at her. She would do everything in her power to change that, some people called her a people- pleaser because of that.

She often tried not to view herself as a doormat, she hated that nickname. Her friends used to reassure her that it was all to blame because of her sweet nature.

"Honestly Delilah, who are you trying to fool?" He sighed tiredly.

"Nobody." she replied while her eyes watered. She always cries when someone confronts her or when someone raised their voice at her, and Nate damn well knew that. As always it was just her sweet nature manifesting itself into the situation, but Nate wasn't having it.

"Hey, don't turn yourself into the victim now!" He yelled angrily when noticing her girlfriend's doe like browns eyes filled with tears .

"You're upsetting me and you're being unreasonable!" she tried to yell to make her point across but, her voice ended up wavering.

"Me? Unreasonable?" He scoffed. "Delilah, you're the one who is being fucking difficult."

"I'm not!" she replied with hurt and defensiveness laced with her voice, which was already becoming hoarse because of all the yelling.

"But you fucking are!" He yelled while punching a whole through the wall, making the young girl jump in her place.

"I just wish you would take my feeling into account." he mumbled while blankly staring at the wall he just punched, his back facing the girl who was letting little sobs, trying to not make the situation worse. Delilah's white carpet had little droplets of blood that were dripping down from Nate's split knuckles. That will be a hazard to remove, the girl thought looking down at the little red spots on the floor. Turning a brownish color as minutes passed.

Delilah swallowed with difficulty, "Would it make you happy if I wear a Sari?" she asked in a shaky voice, in hopes of changing her boyfriend's mind.

That made him turn around to face the scared girl, who he didn't notice, but now how she was shaking, either way he pretended to ignore that. He walked up to Delilah and slowly reached out to her. She slowly looked up into his beautiful hazel eyes, and it was like that, that the teary eyed girl just kind of forgot the whole argument. Forgot the chair that had toppled over when Nate standed up so arruptly. Forgot the the fist like hole in her wall. Forgot the scattered little splots of blood on her carpet.

He grabbed her forearms and he brought her into a hug. Delilah laid her head on his chest while Nate rested his chin on the top of her head, as he started to gently run his fingertips down her back in a soothing motion. As if trying to fix the whole ordeal. The couple stayed like that for a while.

Still admist the hug Nate said "Sure, but just in case, don't talk to any other guys. I'm a guy I know what's going on inside their minds" she just nodded her head in reply.

It was just her "sweet" nature, she guessed.
