Chapter II

Kiba sighed as he fell onto his bed. "Who knew that someone like Gaara could love," he muttered. "I agree, but that Saya woman...my insects are giving me a bad feeling about her," Shino said. Kiba raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean by that?" he asked.

Shino shook his head, "I don't know, but she seems too prefect to be real," he said. Kiba smirked, "Does someone have a crush on the Kazekage's girlfriend?" he teased. Shino stayed silent for a moment, before giving a blunt no.

Kiba laughed, "Whatever you say. Let's get some sleep. We're meeting with the Kazekage tomorrow," he said. Shino nodded and climbed into bed.

Mean while...

"Lady Saya is really pretty," Hinata commented. Kurenai nodded in agreement, "I'm a bit envious of her build," she muttered. Hinata giggled, "You don't have anything to worry about, Kurenai-sensei, you're perfect," she said. The genjutsu mistress smiled, "Thanks," she said.

Hinata yawned and nodded. "We better get to sleep," she commented. "Yeah, we're meeting with the Kazekage tomorrow. Wither he wants us to or not," Kurenai said. Hinata laughed, "You going to kick the door down?" she asked. Kurenai smirked, "You bet I will," she replied.

Hinata giggled, "Good night, sensei," she said as she fell asleep. "Good night, Hinata," Kurenai said as she turned off the light.

❂The Next Morning❂

There was a knock on the door to the Kazekage's office. "Come in," called the emotionless voice of the Kazekage. The door opened to reveal Team Eight.

"Oh, you're the Konoha ninjas from last night? What are you doing here and not on your way home?" Saya asked from her place beside the Kazekage. "We came here to ask why you cut off ties with the Leaf," Kurenai answered.

"Simple. Saya wanted me to," Gaara answered simply as he looked up from his paperwork. "Do you always do as your girlfriend tells you?" Kiba asked. "No," came the blunt answer.

"Enough of this. Lady Saya, why did you want Lord Kazekage to cut ties off with Konoha?" Kurenai asked. "I did not want Suna to be allied with a village full of fools and backstabbers," the red head said sweetly, but her eyes said other ways. Her startling blue eyes held a deeper and darker emotion that the Leaf ninjas couldn't place.

"Fools and backstabbers!? Is that how you people see us!?" Kiba growled. Saya giggled, "Down boy, think long and hard of why I say this and you will find your answer," she said. Kiba growled, "I don't have time for this shit! Just give us a solid answer, you hag!" he yelled.

"My, my. You must be blind, mute, I am around your age. Get your eyes checked. Being blind may hinder your abilities as a ninja," Saya said as she stroked her pet fox. Kiba growled, "Damn you," he muttered.

Saya was about to say something, but was cut off by her beloved. "Enough, vixen, we will discussed about this later," the Kazekage said. "But, Gaara, you know what they did," Saya argued. "I said that is enough, mate," Garaa said with an edge to his voice.

Saya sighed, "Very will," she said submissively. The Leaf ninjas raised an eyebrow at the couple's bickering, but didn't dare question it.

"So, you wish to know why I cut ties with Konoha?" Garaa asked. Kurenai nodded, "Yes, that is correct," she said. "I did not like how you use their ninjas. They threw away a perfectly good ninja all because of something that was absolutely not his fault. Your people chose a traitor over someone who was fully loyal to his village. You banished him and crushed his life's dream of ever becoming Hokage," the Shukaku's Jinchūriki explained.

"So this is about Naruto?" Kurenai said. "That is correct," Gaara said. "Then why now? Why cut off ties now?" the genjutsu mistress asked. "A few months ago, Naruto came here all beaten and bloody. While he was bedridden, he was a living dream. Everyone that approached him, Naruto saw them as the villagers. I was sickened at the sight. He didn't seem to know what was going on, but the Kyuubi and his body seemed to know. In the middle of the night, the Akatsuki kidnapped him and extracted the Kyuubi from him," Gaara asked.

To say that Team Eight was shocked, would be an under statement. "N-Naruto...died?" Hinata sobbed and Gaara nodded. "And by the Akatsuki none the least," he added. "You've got to be kidding me, right!? Naruto won't die like that!" Kiba protested. "Foolish mute, you dashed his dreams away, chose the Uchiha over him, and you now dare care for him now," Saya asked coldly.

"Saya, silence or you will be punished later," Gaara said calmly. Saya glared softly at her boyfriend. "You're taking their side? Sometimes I can't stand you," she hissed softly as she marched out of the office.

"I'm going to go talk to her," Hinata said as she hurried out of the room.

"You'll have to excuse her. Naruto is a sensitive topic for her," Gaara said. "And why is that?" Kiba asked. "Naruto and Saya formed a rather strong bond while he was hospitalized here," Gaara answered.

Kurenai nodded, "So you just cut off your ties to the leaf because your girlfriend wanted you to?" she asked. "No, I also wanted to cut the ties with the Leaf. We have became very dependent on the Leaf. I think it would do us some good to start relying on our selfs," the red head explained.

Kurenai nodded, "That sounds reasonable," she muttered. Garaa nodded, "Yes, now please leave. I don't think Saya will tolerate you in the village anymore," he said. Kurenai nodded, "We'll go find Hinata and be on our way," she said as she and her remaining teammates headed out the door.

Once they were gone, Garaa's emotionless mask crumbled and he let out a sigh. "Good job, mate, I may have to reward you later," he muttered. The Kazekage chuckled at the thought. His mate would surely enjoy being rewarded.
