Kanao and Aoi have been friends since birth. Their moms were friends since childhood, so it was only natural their children would get along. There have been bumpy roads and rainy days, but no matter what, their friendship remained unbreakable. Even now, all grown up in college, the girls shared that strong bond... and a room.

"Kanao! I already told you, it's your turn to do laundry this weak!" Aoi hollered from their small kitchen.

"I know." Kanao replied, not looking up from her book.

"You say that, but nothing has been getting done around here. You look so organized in front of people, but in reality, I'm the one doing all the work around here- are you even listening!?"

"I know." Kanao replied again.

"...yeah, right..." Aoi pouted.

There was a long silence.

"You're not mad at me, are you?" Kanao, now nervous, asked.

"No."

"...you're totally mad..." The side ponytailed girl whispered. She stood up, leaving her book on her night side table, and left the dorm.

'Our friendship has been going downhill lately; yeah, we're still friends, but something seems off, and I just can't quite describe it.'

Brushing off her thoughts, Aoi continued cooking lunch. She was not to blame; college was already stressful enough, and having to deal with laundry, dishes, cooking, and other house chores on your own was agonizing.

Stirring the pot of rice, the pigtailed got lost in her thoughts once again; it seemed to have become an addictive habit. Every time she'd close her eyes or wander off, there she was, her precious childhood friend Kanao Tsuyuri.

A barrier was built. Now there was always something in the air, a drowning tension, making the two girls feel like strangers to each other. Talking was strange and awkward; it became rare. The only time they spoke was to talk about exams or whose turn it was to do a house chore.

Aoi hated it. She wanted back the friendship they used to have, now they seemed like co-workers. Hanging out or talking about their feelings was out of the question. It was all about work.

Once the rice was done, she took it off the burner and served herself. She sat on her bed eating, picking off the carrots in her curry. She never liked carrots, but they were Kanao's favorite. She couldn't possibly take them off the recipe.

Her eyes began to ache, and the tears overfilled her vision.

"I just want everything to be normal again..."

The next day arrived, and nothing had changed. First period came, Kanao and Aoi took their seats, of course, far away from each other. It continued like this until the college day was over. Aoi grabbed her belongings about to walk out of the classroom but was stopped by someone holding her hand.

"Aoi-" Kanao started. Aoi's eyes widened.

"Yes, Kanao?"

"Would you like to hang out with me?.. At six?" The side ponytailed girl replied, not letting go of her friend's hand.
