I parked on the road next to the driveway of the tan house. Parker already had shut the backseat doors and rushed inside before I could even shut off the engine. I decided I should just wait for them out here so we could leave as soon as possible but after the third Sex Pistols song, I got impatient.

I shut off my car and walked to the back door; twisting the doorknob, I walked in to see Parker drinking orange juice on the counter bar with Manny sitting in his high chair beside him and Mrs. Heffley struggling to find things surrounded by a mess in the kitchen "Morning Mrs. Heffley," I walked over to pour myself a cup of coffee

"Morning, Jaymie," she smiled "Sorry it's such a mess, the struggles of having three boys" she laughed "Your mother must adore having you," she said to which I just nervously chuckled at "Greg! Rodrick! Get down here!" she called but neither gave a response "Oh my- Jaymie I am so sorry" she quickly apologized "Boys wake up!" she yelled going up the stairs "Thanks for taking the boys and Rowley to school and trust me you're going to get tired of them so Linda, Rowley's mom, offered to take the boys home from school," she said

"Of course, it's no problem, plus I could use the extra money" I replied "Ooh saving up for anything in particular?" she asked "No, just some money to save," I said "You are so responsible, I wish Rodrick was a little bit more like you, I'm worried he's going end up living in the basement til he's 40— speaking of Rodrick, could you see if he's awake?" before I could even answer she went to check on Greg

"Uh yeah, sure I guess," I said furrowing my brows. I walked down the hall and the basement stairs into Rodrick's room. I walked in and saw clothes and old food all over the place with his snoring in the background. There were a couple of old greasy pizza boxes, and dirty piles of laundry everywhere "God it reeks in here! Seriously, Rodrick, do you ever clean, or shower?" he grunted as I covered my nose and walked over to his bed. "Heffley, seriously, get up," I said shaking him to which he was still unconscious "I guess he's dead," I shrugged "Just gotta make sure," I pinched his nose to keep him from breathing. I might be a bit of a psychopath.

He woke up gasping for air before I let go. I laughed at him when he looked over at me angrily.

"What the hell Jaymie!" he screamed. He quickly looked around at himself and realized that he was only in his skull boxers "Get out!" he said pushing me out of his room, up the stairs, and closing the door of the basement behind me.

Parker and I ate the breakfast Mrs. Heffley made while we waited for Greg and Rodrick.

Greg had come to join us and we were only waiting on Rodrick; he shortly came from the basement and grabbed a plate to eat with us, and sat down at the farthest end of the counter. Parker and Greg were having a conversation while Rodrick and I sat with tension in the air that only we could feel.

I giggled under my breath while taking a bite of my eggs and that struck a nerve in him, causing him to speak. "Mom, does Jaymie seriously have to take us to school?" Rodrick complained staring at me, I responded with a middle finger and a smile.

"Well if you didn't go out and crash your van while you were grounded," she said as he rolled his eyes "then we wouldn't be in this situation "

"So if I wasn't grounded, it would've been okay?" he asked his mom as she rolled he eyes "I worry about you, honey. Hurry and eat your eggs," she told him as he practically shoved the plate down his throat "Can't you take us mom? I don't want to be seen with her," he said with a disgusted face

"No. I have to take Manny to daycare and get to work on time. Suck it up and be grateful Jaymie is even doing this because you could ride the bus instead" she said to him

"Hi, Mrs. Heffley." Rowley said as he entered the house "Beautiful morning isn't it, Jaymie?" he said signing with a smile "You look lovely today" Mrs. Heffley and I chuckled at the lovesick little boy. "Morning, Rowley," I said

"Gross" Parker committed "Seriously" Greg agreed "C'mon Rowley," Greg said grabbing Rowley to the counter for breakfast with them. The three boys sparked a conversation about something while Rodrick and I sat in silence again. "Alright bye boys, bye Jaymie" Mrs. Heffley waved as she and Manny left.

After finishing my second cup of coffee, I checked my phone for the time "Okay guys we gotta get going" I said getting out of my chair. "C'mon your mom is paying me to get you to school on time for as long as the van is out," I said while they got up and went to the doors, "Dishes in the sink first," I said clearing my throat.

We were finally leaving for school and heading to the car "You parked so far," Rodrick said to me as we walked behind the three boys "It's gonna take forever to walk down there" he continued to blab "Then run" I replied, "Is that a challenge?" he said gaining my interest as his right eyebrow rose. "I can easily beat you," I scoffed "I'd like to see to try," he cocked "Fine," I said "If I win you pay for my gas and buy me coffee whenever I want," I said "You're on" he smirked

"On the count of 3," he said "One," I started "Two," he said "Three!" we both shouted as we took off. We ran past the boys who looked at us confused. Rodrick nearly fell on his face while running. The wind flowed through my hair as I made it past the yard and to the curb, I had touched my hand onto the passenger door handle when it met with another hand. I looked up at Rodrick to see his hair look messier than before and laughed. "Who won?" I asked Parker as they made it to the car "You did" he said as I smiled "No fair" Rodrick said "My shoes weren't tied"

"Yes fair," I said as I walked to the other side of the car "And your shoes don't even have laces"

We all got into the car and my music from before played "Any request?" I turned my head to ask Parker and the boys in the backseat and they shook their heads. "Löded Diper" Rodrick said as I rolled my eyes

"My car, my rules," I said to him Rodrick groaned as I played The Beatles and finally drove. I dropped Parker, Greg, and Rowley off at their school and hurried to get to school on time. We sat listening to I Will when it stopped. I looked over to see that Rodrick put in a CD of his own when low and behold it was a Löded Diper track and not a very good one at that.

I kept my hand on the wheel as I tried to take the CD out without taking my eyes off the road and for a second I looked away from the road and sped by a stop sign. "Eyes on the road," he said smugly with his feet on the dashboard "Looks like you'll just have to listen to this" he shrugged turning up the volume with that stupid smirk on his face.

We were about 2 blocks from school and stopped in traffic, so I could finally stop my ears from bleeding out and paused the music. "W-wha," he said looking in shock with a bit of anger "We were getting to my solo"

I took the CD out of the slot and threw it out the window, "What the hell Jaymie!" he jumped out of the car and looked for his precious CD. Cars honked at him for being the idiot standing in the middle of traffic. A car nearly drove into him as he continued to search luckily they braked and only cursed at him, "Rodrick, get in the car," I said but he didn't answer "Rodrick, I'm sorry about you're CD, now get in. Shit, your mom is going to kill me" he bent down to the car window "You know what," he said "If you don't want my mom to find out you almost got me killed, you have to do something for me" he said

"What do you want?" I asked "I don't know yet, let's call it an IOU," he said. "You know what that is?" I asked "More or less," he answered. I shut my eyes and unwillingly agreed "Fine. If it'll make you get in the car, fine." a smirk appeared on his face and he finally got back in the car.

We arrived at school and I dropped him off so I could find a parking spot. He searched for his book bag and pulled something out. "I always carry a copy," he said as he shut the car door
