It never was cold enough or hot enough in the unzoned.

A satisfactory weather. The sun was never too bright. The wind was never too harsh.

Elian Westerfeld never really waited more than five minutes for the Winther Bus to come. He was sitting at the bench waiting for it's arrival. It had been two minutes.

He glanced at his wrists. He was wearing two watches. Like he always did. He never told anyone who asked him why though.

Most people at school thought he was weird. Students at school bullied the ones they thought were weird. Yet, they all stayed out of his way.

Elian was never sure why. No one wanted to mess with him and mostly just avoided him.

He was a nobody and an everybody. Except Wendy, no one talked to him. But then, Wendy was his cousin so she was an exception.

The Winther Bus was arriving. He could feel it. It always made a noise when it neared a station the way an aeroplane did while it landed.

Elian's favourite subject at school was The Earlier Centuries. He was very intelligent in that area of study. So he knew that the Winther Bus was basically the 'train' or the 'subway' of the earlier century. Except the Winther Bus kind of floated on air and was made mostly out of translucent blue glass. It was also very fast, zooming through glass tunnels that sometimes swivelled up into the air.

As the Winther Bus arrived, Elian stood up and the doors opened in way that looked like ice melting.

He stepped inside, adjusted his cap, and took a seat.

The sliding door closed and the Winther bus roared off fast.

Elian looked around. There were many people from his school here. He only knew Devani Patel, Tyler Jacob, Felix and Sara Miller. They were quite popular.

There were other students too. The area inside the bus was very huge and spacious. No one bothered him. They stood in their own groups of friends laughing and talking slowly. Some were standing, holding the railing above to steady them as they talked.

A few had their eBooks out. For the math quiz test probably. Elian had that too.

He had barely sat down for thirty seconds when the Winther Bus already stopped and arrived just in front of the school.

Everyone got off and the Bus flew away without wasting a second.
