"Smile the worst is yet to come/ We'll be lucky if we ever see the sun
Got nowhere to go, we could be here for a while/ but the future is forgiven so smile"

FRIEND PART OF FRENEMY

WHEN ARYA WOKE UP, she let herself do it slowly and gradually, feeling like there was no rush. She could tell as soon as she gained consciousness that she was safe, she had made it onto a lifeboat, and based on her perfect barings she knew that they were deep into the Sea of Monsters. Everything, for a minute, seemed calm, seemed okay.

Then she tried to move, and it became clear how exactly un-okay everything was. Her left leg and arm hurt like Hades, something that was almost foreign to her. Arya wasn't used to lasting pain, the water could always heal her. She forced herself up into a sitting position, only hissing once when she hit her leg as she moved her hands to push up into a sitting position. She looked down at her leg and arm where the pain was stemming from to assess the damage. It was surprised to see them covered in bandages. This confirmed her suspicions that she had sustained an injury that the water couldn't heal. If Arya was placing bets, she assumed it had something to do with the explosion.

The dark-haired girl took her eyes off of herself for the first time since waking up and took in the lifeboat she ended up on. In the middle of the boat was a makeshift sail that someone had made from, what looked like, old confederate uniforms. The boat was small, and barley fit three people, lucky for Arya there were only two on board.

"What happened to the other life boat?" Arya croaked out towards the daughter of Ares who was sitting at the front of the vessel, engrossed in her thoughts. It was only when Arya spoke that Clarisse turned around with a small cough and glossy eyes. She had been crying, but Arya wouldn't dare say a word.

"They uh, I'm not sure. The ship exploded with you and Percy on it." Her hoarse voice croaked out. She quickly cleared her throat to try and compensate.

Arya's eyes went wide,  as the memories of what had occurred flooded her head all at once. The monsters, the explosion, Tyson.

"Percy! Annabeth! What happened?"

"Like I said, I'm not sure. I think I saw Annabeth get Percy out of the water, and I was able to grab you, and then she opened the Thermos and the wind carried us two completely different directions."

"You didn't row after them?" Arya protested completely forgetting about the fact that she had been injured. Her brothers and Annabeth were far more important.
