I woke up in my bed blinded by a beam of sunlight shining through my window. I left the diner last night in a hurry and made my way home. I don't know how I knew where I was going, but I did.
I sat up the same time I heard glass breaking downstairs. Along with the clinking of pots and pans. Being the curious person that I am, I decided to make my way downstairs to the kitchen. What is my sister up to now?
As I stood in the kitchen doorway that leads to the living room, I see three broken glasses on the ground and pans spread around the kitchen. There were forks and knives thrown along the counters, and wash towels strung about.
"Uh, Kayc? Can I ask you what you're doing?" I said looking at my sister who jumped at the sound of my voice.
"There you are! Why didn't you tell me where you were going? In losing my mind. You left and I didn't know and I was left at the hospital alone with everyone. I was so worried about you. I didn't know what to think. What if you got shot? What if you fell in a pool and drowned? I hate you, Tag. Don't you ever do that to me. We've lost our parents, I don't need to lose you too." By the end, she was crying. She's either upset or mad when she rambles. It's clear she's upset now.
I walked over to my sobbing sister and took her in my arms. We sank down to the ground sitting on little pieces of glass crying in each other's arms. Last night, it didn't even occur to me to cry. In this moment, I realized, my parents are gone. They're really gone and there's nothing I can do about it.
"Kayc." I said taking her shoulders and pulling her away from me. I looked at her in the eyes and waited for her to answer.
"Y-yeah Tag?" She said in between sobs.
"We have each other. I'm never going to leave you, okay? I love you so much little sister." I said as I put my forehead to hers.
She laughed a little as she punched me in the arm. "I may be shorter than you, but I'm older than you, little brother." She said smiling as tears still ran down her face.
I smiled back at her and got up from the ground. "Time to clean this up. We have preparations to make. Although I'd rather sulk in my room, our parents need a good funeral. They need to know they were loved, Kayc. Come on." I said as I motioned her to take my hand. I pulled her up in one swift motion and surveyed the kitchen. Boy was this going to take a while.

After we had cleaned the kitchen and it was back to the way she found it, my sister called our aunt Lucy, my moms sister, and told her we needed her help.
"Okay, I'll be there in a half hour." Lucy said as we were rummaging through papers on our fathers desk.
Twenty minutes later, our front door opened to reveal our aunt Lucy. She came rushing in to Dads office and looked straight at us.
Our Dad never let us in his office usually. He was a lawyer, and every important paper he needed was neatly organized somewhere in this room. This is also where Mom kept her canvas and paint supplies. She was a nurse, but her passion was painting. She liked to tell a story with her pictures.
"Oh Lord, you're here Tagen. Where were you last night? Kaycie called me frantic, asking me if I knew where you were." She walked over to me and cupped my cheek in her hand.
"I just went running. To get my mind off what just happened." I replied as she took my head and buried it in her shoulder.
"Well, don't do it again. At least tell us next time." With that, she started sobbing. I don't know how much more estrogen I can take. When girls cry, they create a 4 mile long stream with snot everywhere.
"What are we going to do Aunt Lucy? I don't know anything about insurance or preparing funerals. Hell, I've never even known anyone that's died. So I've never been to one." My sister said as she made her way back to the desk. By then, Lucy had quit crying.
"Well for starters, Tagen will be under mine and Ricky's supervision. Your mother always said that if something were to happen, you go to me. You don't have very long until you're 18, so don't worry. You won't be with me that long. As for the insurance and funeral, this is what you do," she said. She walked over to Dads desk and started pulling out different papers talking to Kayc.
I tuned them out after that. My mind was only on going to my aunt and uncles. I'll be living with them. I won't be living with my parents anymore because I don't have them. I can't believe this is really happening.
I leaned back against a wall and sunk down to the ground. I buried my face in my hands and my mind wandered to the waitress I had last night. She was beautiful. Nothing I've ever seen before. Will I ever see her again?
It's crazy how one chance encounter with one person can send your mind into haywire. I don't know who this girl was, I don't know what she's like, and I don't know if I'll ever see her again, but I've got to have her.
One way or another.

This chapter was a little bit longer than the others. I'll probably update again today. It took me 3 hours to come up with this, and I'm not even sure I like it. Please tell me if you do! Thank you for reading. (:
