Making my way along an unknown street, all I could hear was the pounding of my feet against the pavement. I was breathing so hard, but I couldn't stop running. I had no idea where I was, but I continued running anyway.
I looked around for signs of recognition, any places that stood out. Nothing was familiar. How long had I been running? I have no idea. I felt like if I stopped now, I wouldn't be able to go again. I wouldn't be able get back up and continue life. I felt like without my parents, there was no reason to live anymore.
Continuing my way along the sidewalk, I notice a quiet little 50's diner hiding behind a fence. There were a few cars there scattered about the parking lot. In the last second, I decided to go in and check it out.
As I walked inside, everyone stared at me. I just looked at the ground and picked a booth farthest away from everyone. In the corner of my eye, I saw someone walk over to me.
"What can I get ya?" A girl asked cheerfully. Why is she so happy? It's annoying.
Still looking at the table, I replied "Water," and she stared at me a few more seconds before heading off to the kitchen.
As soon as she turned around, I snuck a glance at her. She had long, blonde hair with a petite body. She walked with a bit of sass, but bubbly all the same.
Looking back at the table, I could hear footsteps coming my way. A glass of water appeared in front of me. Her hand looked very feminine and well taken care of.
"Thanks," I said not looking at her.
"Are you hungry? I can get ya something. Our special tonight is our famous chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy!" She said happily.
This time, I snuck a glance at her only to see her smiling down on me like I was a puppy. She had such a breathtaking smile. God, who was this girl?
"I'm fine," I quickly replied hoping she didn't know what I was thinking. Why was I thinking about a girl when my parents had just died?
"Well okay, if you change your mind, you just let me know." She hesitated before finishing, "Enjoy your water." And with that, she turned around and went back to the counter.
I took a long sip of my water and set it back down. I traced the edge of the cup as I closed my eyes and breathed in and out. My mind was going in so many directions. What am I going to do?
My had my life been turned upside down so abruptly. One day, I was happy. I had just made captain of the football team the day before. Today, my parents die, and I'm left in shock. I'm left wondering why this had to happen to me. I'm left not knowing what my future holds for me.
I'm left in oblivion.
