"Demons. I despise them."
The black haired boy glowered at the pale, tall man adorned in an western-styled suit, who stood before him sneering at his despair.
The thick layers of snow beneath them were melted as tears tumbled from his eyes. Clenching his fist, he swore one day he would kill the man standing before him. As if it were nothing more than a game, he laughed at his pain.

During the day, it was especially cool, and it only got colder as the sky darkened. Layers of snow were formed by snowflakes drizzling upon one another. With only the thought of getting home as soon as possible in mind, Tanjiro trampled all over the snow. Having worked all day selling charcoal and helping others, it was late in the evening. Having his family worry about him was the last thing he wanted.
"Oh man, it's late already.. I'm glad they're sold out, though." He sighed, wiping sweat off his forehead, walking up the mountain.
"Hey, Tanjiro! Are you going to head back up the mountain? You'd better not. It's too dangerous." A familiar voice to Tanjiro stated. Tanjiro turned his head to the source of this voice, only to see the one who called, was Mr. Saburo a neighbor of Tanjiro's.
"I've got a good nose, so I'll be fine." He replied brushing off any doubts he had himself.
"You can stay here for the night. Come on. Get back here." He insisted, but Tanjiro politely refused. Saburo grumbled. "Don't argue! Come on! Before the demons show up." Halfway throughout the sentence his voice turned cold after mentioning the word, "Demons".
Tanjiro stopped. "I apologize, Mr Saburo.. But I must take my leave now. My family will be extremely worried, if I don't get back while I still can. I'll be careful, don't worry about me, I'll be fine." Tanjiro flashed a grin, bowed, and turned away.
"Hey! Come back! I told you It's not safe out there!" Saburo yelled, but Tanjiro ignored his words, continuing his way up the mountain.
Each step he took crunched into the heavy snow. It was hard to see in the dark, but Tanjiro had his nose to lead him home.
But, whenever happiness is destroyed.. There's always the smell of blood.
Tanjiro halted, he sniffed the air, and it was no doubt, "The smell of blood!" He widened his eyes and hastened back home.
He stopped close enough to see a tall figure of one who he did not recognize. He gasped for air, and devastatingly he continued to walk towards the man hoping to see his family safe and sound. Though that was not the case, as the man had Tanjiro's younger sister, Nezuko in his tight grip.
Nezuko flailed around gasping for air as she struggled to escape. She glanced at Tanjiro, and with the last bit energy she had left, she urged him to run away and never come back. But he could not hear her for he was in a state of shock. Tanjiro stood there hyperventilating in the cold air, hoping the scene before him to be just a nightmare.
Seeing the man dropping his younger sisters limp body, struck something inside of him. He let out an agonizing yell and ran toward his sister. He fell to his knees gently placing his hands on the back of her head, lifting it up. He checked Nezuko's pulse, she was still alive. For a moment the relief Tanjiro felt made him unaware of his surroundings. His senses were brought back by a powerful blow to the ribs flinging him into the forest.
With only a flick of the man's finger, Tanjiro was blown back by a powerful shock wave. He coughed out blood, knocking him out for a minute. He felt as if he was going to die right there at that moment, but the will to save his sister, and the scent of the demon coming closer brought him back to his senses.
He jumped back up and ran into the forest to buy time. As he was sprinting into the forest, he grabbed his hatchet and rocks on the way.
"He's dangerous and I can't possibly beat him, it's impossible at this rate!" He tossed the hatchet in the air after unsuccessfully tossing the rocks at the demon. The man was amused stepping away from the rocks, easily dodging them all while keeping an eye on Tanjiro and his measly plan.
Tanjiro charged towards him, yelling recklessly while attempting to attack him with the hatchet he was previously hiding behind his back. But the man saw through it all and dissapointed, he grabbed his neck stopping Tanjiro in his tracks, while dodging the hatchet flying towards him with a turn of his neck.
Tanjiro flailed against the tight grip around his neck, kicking the man's body, doing everything he could to loosen his grip from scratching to biting his hand. When Tanjiro bit his hand he glared into the man's crimson eyes. It was one face he would never forget. The man smirked, regaining interest in Tanjiro and his raw energy.
"Muzan.." He elongated his nails, as they faded into dark indigo color. "My name is Muzan Kibutsuji. I'll spare you, and your sisters life, as I've taken a liking to you. Once you remember my name, find me and serve me. I'll be awaiting the day we meet again. Tanjiro Kamado." Tanjiro was instantly pummeled with a large wave of pain as Muzan pierced his neck with his nails, inserting a large amount of his blood.
In pain, Tanjiros's mind went blank as he yelled and groaned. In a short period of time, his body matured due to the spread of blood throughout his body. He gripped and clenched at the cold hard snow with his long nails as his hair began to fall to his knees. Even so, he heard Muzan's last words as he departed, groaning in pain.
"It'll only hurt for a bit, but the moment you wake up you'll feel reborn. I've spared your sister so that she could be your first meal once it comes to that. I hope to see you soon, until then Tanjiro." Muzan disappeared into the wind as if he was never there, leaving Tanjiro behind.
As his nails and hair grew abnormally fast, his pupils constricted, and he groaned. He was as pale as the snow below him, his nails were sharp as knives, and his eyes were a beautiful crimson color. For a brief moment, the scar on his forehead turned into a flame, and his hair reached his heels. Right before he lost consciousness, he succumbed to the pain.
