I took a deep breath.
This is it, Hetty. It's now or never.
Chocolate lang naman ang ibibigay ko, hindi naman love letter. Hindi rin naman ako magtatapat nang pag-ibig sa kanya. Hindi rin naman ito ang first time na bibigyan ko siya ng chocolates. Bakit ba kabang-kaba ako?
I gulped for the nth time. My mouth was so dry, kailangan ko yata ng tubig. Baka hindi ako makapagsalita pagdating niya.
Umupo ako sa pinakamalapit na bench. Binaba ko muna ang chocolates na hawak ko. my hands were shaking habang hinahanap ko ang water bottle sa bag ko.
It wasn't there.
I can't even gulp now, tuyong-tuyo na ang lalamunan ko. Should I bolt to the caf? Pero parating na siya any moment now! Baka hindi niya ako—
"T?" sabi ng boses mula sa likod ko.
My heart jumps whenever he says my nickname. I just... feel special you know? Sino ba ang hindi kikiligin kung nickname basis kayo ni crush?
"Hi, Heal." I greeted hoarsely. Kailangan ko ng tubig. Isang timba, para pati buong katawan ko mabuhusan. I feel hot now, dahil ang hot ni Healer. He was still in his jersey, a bit sweaty dahil mukhang tinakbo niya ang papunta dito. Excited ba siyang makita rin ako?
Well of course not, he was sweaty dahil galing siyang practice.
Still, he looked so fresh. Seriously, paano ba nila nagagawa 'yon? Ako nga tumakbo lang ng ilang minuto hulas na eh. He was so handsome, under the afternoon sun. Ang makakapal niyang kilay, ang magaganda niyang mata na may makakapal at mahahabang pilik. Ang matangos niyang ilong, ang mapupula niyang labi, and his chiselled jaw. Lord, ang gwapo po talaga.
"Are you okay?" nag-aalalang tanong niya.
Wala sa sariling tumango ako, and he studied my face, weighing if I was telling the truth or not.
I was not okay.
I was too nervous.
Pero walang mangyayari kung titigan ko lang si Healer. I tried to smile instead, and I was positive it looked forced. I picked up the chocolates I made myself and gave it to him.
"Happy birthday, Healer and Happy Valentines."
"Thanks, T." He smiled so beautifully, showing me his long canines and deep dimples on both cheeks. My surroundings looked brighter, for there was another sun in front of me.
Tumalon-talon ulit ang puso ko, para bang nakikipag-jumping rope ito sa mga ugat ko. At kung hindi pa ako magsasalita, baka marinig ni Healer ang pagwawala ng nilalang sa dibdib ko. My heart has always been like this whenever I'm around him.
