"Where is this? Where am I?"
I don't understand.
"Where's mom and dad?"
I scream until my chest hurts. I scream for my mother, and for my father. I scream until I am in Brady's arms. He holds me tight and whispers, "It's okay. Clementine you're okay."
Suddenly I'm back in a dusty green room. Without my parents or my family. I'm back in Miss Henry's orphanage. I blink over and over, trying to erase the memory of my old life as tears stream down my face. But, tonight I'll let them come.(Tears are the least of my worries anyways.)
"What happened?" Brady looks me straight in the eyes.
"I-I don't know..."I look at the floor and study the fold of my blanket.
He stares at me, takes my hand, and says,
"Clem, you have to talk to me I'm here for you. I'm always here for you"
"I know." I whisper
I lay back down and close my eyes. I try not to move so he will think I'm asleep. I guess it works, because in a few minutes he kisses the top of my head and leaves.(Sometimes being 14 can be a curse. People don't think I can take care of myself anymore. Everyone feels the need to baby me. I'm an orphan not a dog. Ok I need to sleep. I haven't slept in a while. But, I don't think I can go back to sleep after that dream...I can't ever sleep after that dream.) I take a breath and open and shut my eyes. (I have to remember what my mom used to say. Whenever I couldn't sleep she would hold me and tell me to clear my mind except for the things I love. She told me to get rid of any negative thoughts and focus on positive ones. So that's what I'm going to try.)
