Weeks had passed since Y/N was admitted to the hospital — weeks since Rosé slept comfortably, weeks since she last smiled sincerely, weeks since she truly enjoyed a meal. Rosé was emotionally, and almost physically, dead. Dark bags were prominent under her eyes. She was pale. She had grown thinner, and no matter how much she tried, she couldn't stop worrying about you. She never left your side, only stepping away when she needed to shower or use the bathroom.
Everyone was even more worried now, especially since there had been no updates from your sister. Irene, meanwhile, was in just as bad a state as Rosé — maybe even worse. During rehearsals, she constantly messed up. Whenever your name crossed her mind, or when someone asked about you, she would break down in tears. There was even a time she collapsed during a performance, but the rest of Red Velvet quickly covered for her, staying professional despite the chaos.
Rosé now sat quietly beside you, gently caressing your hand, patiently waiting for any sign of movement. The rest of the girls were out rehearsing, but Rosé had stayed behind. She had personally requested a hiatus from YG Entertainment — and, surprisingly, YG agreed. Maybe it was because Irene had screamed at him over what happened to you.
"Baby? It's morning now. 9:30 a.m., to be exact," Rosé whispered, softly twirling a lock of your hair around her fingers. "You're sleeping in... you're thirty minutes late already. You need to wake up now." She sighed, still hoping for a response.
"I'll just get some water, alright, baby?" she added, getting up.
When she returned, there was a knock on the door, and Dr. Choi entered the room.
"Oh, hi Dr. Choi. What brings you here?" Rosé asked gently, setting the empty cup down on the table beside your bed. She immediately noticed the look on his face — uncertainty, hesitation. Her heart dropped. Before he could even speak, the rest of the girls, including Irene, walked in, surprising both Rosé and the doctor.
"Hey, Dr. Choi. Hey, Chae. Sorry — we were dismissed early today, so we rushed over. Is everything alright?" Lisa asked, dropping her Prada bag onto a nearby chair.
Dr. Choi cleared his throat, looking around. "I'm actually glad you're all here. I have some news. Over the past few weeks, we've been closely monitoring Ms. Bae... but unfortunately, there's been no improvement. The chances of her recovery have reached their lowest point. The medication isn't working."
"What are you trying to say, Doctor?" Irene asked sharply, her voice trembling.
Dr. Choi sighed deeply. "We've made the difficult decision to stop treatment and remove the oxygen support. Tomorrow... you can come and say your final goodbyes. Please believe me when I say we did everything we could."
"P-pardon? You're going to stop treating my unnie?" Lisa stuttered in disbelief. "Tell me you're joking... This can't be fucking happening," she laughed bitterly.
When no response came, Lisa grabbed the doctor by the collar, shocking everyone.
"Listen to me, Dr. Choi. If she's still fighting, then you don't get to give up either. If we haven't given up, then you sure as hell won't either! You are NOT taking her away from us just because 'the medicine isn't working'!" she shouted, her tears streaming freely. The thought of losing you shattered her.
Irene gently pulled Lisa away, crying herself.
"I'm sorry," Dr. Choi said softly, "but the decision is final—"
"No! No, she can't leave me! She's still fighting, I know she is! There has to be something else you can do! I won't let you take her!" Rosé sobbed uncontrollably. Jennie rushed to her side to support her.
